Your email still has potential to save $200/deer license type if bought before july 1, and $30 on the hunting license

That is good news for deer hunters, for this year at least up

Do you not put in for the drawings?

The last time that I had a lease in Oklahoma, I bought the archery deer license and it was good for all of the deer seasons since I only hunted with my bow. I just had to wear the hunter orange during any firearm season. Is that still going to be the case for archery hunters ?

Born to hunt and fish.

Yes plus general hunting licenses now

Results are in on the draw. I was denied on Elk and Antelope again. frown But I did not expect to with the rule change that half of all hunt permits first go into a draw for those with 20 or more preference points. Two more years and I will be in that early draw so maybe there is a chance.

Sniper John - don't expect a lot to change on the Elk Hunt draw because you have 20 points. I have 28 points
and still no luck drawing. My son and I also have 18 points for a WT hunt. Once we got above 10 points for the WT
hunt we decided to be more specific on location such as the Wichita Mtns. which limits our success for our deer draw.
Maybe some year we will get lucky for that draw as well. I wish you the best luck.

Have a Great 2024 Fall Hunting Season.

Duckandbass drew cow tag last year with <5

I had to go back and pt elk due to Dec NM tag I drew. Nada on pronghorns but I’d rather archery hunt them anyway.

You will have a lot better chance than those with less than 20 since half the permits now go to only those with 20 points or more in a first draw. I have two hunting leases, so because I have plenty of hunting opportunity already and with the OK license fee increase, I decided to just do points on deer and turkey every year going forward until I no longer have those leases. But antelope and elk, I will keep trying.

I was reading some hunt reports on other forums and facebook and got the idea a lot of high point holders that only put in for bull hunts get older and frustrated, then end up applying for cow hunts. And though there are some first time and low point applicants that get in on the drive in bull hunt, it sounded like there are a whole lot of hunters in their 70s and up on that one. And here I was thinking in my 60s I am getting too old, but I probably will not be putting in for the walk in version for too many more years.

If you draw, I’ll come up and help. Seriously

it’s easier to draw a cow tag, but it’s probably a harder hunt. Thats per the WMA and duck bass.
