Well, a ship was obviously involved. Reminds me of the Queen Isabella bridge accident 30 years or so ago in South Padre Island hit by a shipping barge.

Bad news. I remember well in 2001 I was working on a jack up rig at Amphels Shipyard in Brownsville, a tug/barge hit the big bridge going to the island and knocked out over 160' of the bridge. 8 people died, folks didn't see until it was too late and drove off straight down into the water. Was a long way down too.

Yep 23 yrs ago. It was Brownwater Marine that hit the bridge, another company I once worked for.....but not for long.

Ships like that are under very careful control of an experienced harbor pilot. Must have been a major malfunction with the ship. Will be interesting.

My bad, 23 years ago. Do remember Garth B. playing a self hosted, fundraiser concert down there afterwards for 2+ hours in the rain. You may not agree with the guy's positions on some things but that was a really cool thing for him to do for those folks in need at the time.

Five years to build that bridge in the '70's. There is less work to do not, but it will still probably take x3 as long to rebuild it.

Not everything needs to involve a conspiracy theory. Shortly after the ship left the harbor, ship crew reported to Maryland authorities that the ship lost propulsion and they had no control over it.
