Thought this might be a good idea and helpful. Thanks to our buddy Chad at Custom Reloads of Dallas a good many of us have a quantity of this reclaimed powder. I have seen a few folks posting some of their results with it in calibers that there is data from Alliant with their retail version 2000MR which this is close to but not exactly the same. Thus my post. If you try it as I have in a caliber that maybe there isn’t any data to go by then post it for others to see here on the forum….. can use this thread as the place or not doesn’t matter.
I wanted to load a bunch of ammo for a 6.5 Creedmoor that stays at the ranch with a Thermal on it mainly used for guests to shoot hogs. I had a 1000 or so old 120gr AMax’s so decided to try this powder but I couldn’t really find any data except with 90gr bullets. I can say max is right around 43.5 as my 44.0 gr was @3000+ fps and too hot. My load I settled on is: Hornady brass Fed 210 42.0 gr SMP763 120gr AMax OAL 2.750 2880fps

Very good info! Thank you David!!
Another powder that the SMP 763 is really close to is CFE 223 and Ramshot Big Game. If you reduce the load slightly and work up, they have good starting points.

I am just starting the journey back into reloading... so I don't have a chronograph yet. I am working up a load for my "second-hand" parts rifle. This week I found a very good accuracy node for a fairly mild load.
6.5x47 Lapua 123gr Hornady SST 35.0 gr SMP 763 CCI #400 primer Lapua Brass C.O.L.: 2.685" estimated velocity - 2600-2650fps
Rfile - Rem 700 action - Criterion 24" barrel

I have about 800 lbs remaining also. This is the cleanest batch of reclaimed powder I've seen. I run it all through a fine screen, and the small particles in the powder are very minimal. I find mainly 147 FMJ bullets and knocked out primers. It's good stuff!

I am going to test some 223 55gr loads late this week and will report the results.
I believe since this is a tad faster than the regular 2000MR it will work fine. 2000MR is slow for 55gr bullets.

One other observation on this spherical powder. Reloading manuals have always suggested the use of magnum primers with Ball/ Spherical type powders. I will add another warning to that since we now have a few cartridges that come in both LR and SR rifle brass. I suggest you don’t use this powder with those cases that are SR primers and only use the LR sizes. I have noticed with 6mm Creedmoor I get a slight hangfire if I use SR primers even though they are 450 magnums…. Noticed same with 6 GT. I think small cases say less than 30gr it’s fine with SR but I would recommend and use the hotter primers like 450’s and REM 7 1/2 ‘s.

I am using CCI 400’s in our 6mm ARC and haven’t any problems. So far I haven’t loaded over 29 grs. In anything.

Ok I just loaded up 3 rounds each of 30.0 grains and 30.5 grains of SMP 763 for my grendel under the 120 grain Barnes Matchburner. It is over 100 out there and I did let the rifle warm up a bit before I started shooting. Primer is the Federal 205 and Brass is Starline. The 30.0 grain load showed the barest of shine where the ejector was positioned. Shot three into 3/4ths of an inch. The next three showed to be a bit hotter than I will accept but still not outrageous. Slight cratering, barely feel it with fingernail. just a bit more of a shiny spot where the ejector was. POI moved 1/2 inch left and vertically strung into an inch. Think I will back off to 29.5 grains and see how it goes. Kind of like load development backwards. Might maybe get my Magnetospeed out and measure FPS in the morning.

Okay this went well. I consider 29.5 grains max in my rifle, primer slightly flattened and 2571 fps average. 29.0 grains gave 2543 fps and a nice little cloverleaf. If you have any of this powder I would start with 28.0 grains and work up in .5 increments. My rifle has a 20 inch barrel. 29.5 grains of BLC2 gave 2511 fps with the same other components.

More shooting this time in my 6 grendel. Made from necked down Grendel brass and no other change. Worked up to 27.0 grains and stopped there because of outstanding accuracy. Hornady 105 gr. HPBT and federal 205 primer. Extremely slight ejector swipe, probably could go up a bit in charge weight. Velocity came out to 2536 fps average with three shots. Barrel length 20 inches.

I am thinking of trying in my 223 AI and 75 Gr ELDM's. I am still fireroming brass. I have another 100 to go before I start playing with the 75's. Shooting the 69gr SMK lights out while fireforming tho

I completely forgot about this thread. Earlier this year, I worked up a load for my .308. Federal cases, 150 gr SST, and Federal 210M LRP. I found two different accuracy nodes. 47 and 47.5 grains, and a 2nd node at 49 grains. The node at 49 grains did have a sticky bolt, so I am putting max load at 48.5 gr. I settled on 47.2 grains of SMP763 right at 2800fps which gave me 3/4MOA. I've shot a doe and numerous pigs with this and results have been good.

Interesting!! You found the same results as I found above!
This SMP763 faster burn powder is very flexible and works well in several cartridges.
Thanks Chad!

Very Nice!! A buddy of mine also worked up a load for his AR-10 with SMP 763. 47 grains with a 150 SST, Fed 210, and Starline brass, bullet seated a little longer than book. He got pressure about 48, 48.5 and 49 grains, so keep it under that, for sure!

3 different people getting accuracy nodes at 47-47.5 gr. It's nice to see your results validated like that.

I am liking it a lot, clean burning accurate loads easy to come up with. My testing so far seems to show that using Power Pro Varmint data with this powder gets me in the ballpark and work my way into good groups from there. In my 223 I have found that every load I tried gives very nice accuracy from the bottom of workup to the top.

Anyone tried this powder with a 6.5 grendel by chance? Or have any reason not to try it?

Loaded a few .308 Win .167 Ruag HP Federal brass 47.5 Gr. 763 (tested 47 47.5 48 Gr.) No excessive pressure signs on any of the loads, primers still had rounded edges. Necks were clean. Fed LRP OAL 2.75 2840 FPS cold barrel was on the edge of the orange 4 more to the left. Works for me!

Thank you. It seems everyone had good success with a bolt action, but wanted to confirm there were no issues with the semi platform. Picking up some 175 SMK to load for a 20" 308. Mainly for 800 yard plinking.
