Anyone have any wisdom on GSP puppies?
I lucked out on a Craigslist special $100 registered GSP 12 years ago. Turned out to be a great duck and dove dog, and awesome around the house dog as well.
We are about ready to purchase our second GSP pup and have no idea on bloodlines, how much hunting parents matter. Don’t have any desire to field trial the pup, but do field trial parents matter for a good all around dog?

One of my friends owns 3 GSPs from TGR gundogs. Hers have tons of drive, and are also very biddable.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

I got a pup from Charlie Rose many years ago. She was a healthy dog, made it to almost 15 years old. She had a heck of a nose.

I can recommend Rob Martin @ TGR Kennels in Wills Point. I have obtained four dogs from him over the years. Good bloodlines.

I have no experience with their dogs but Rob trained my setter Jack. He was a bird finding son of a gun. He was a back yard bred setter, I miss that mutt.
There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

I've had GSP's for 40 years. I had some Rawhides Clown lineage and I've had rescues from who knows where. Good training and they are great. Several of my rescues have out hunted $$$$ dogs many times. Just pick the one that picks you and you'll be golden.
