Mostly a BBQ place. They have great ribs and brisket and BBQ sauce. Really first class. Their Tater Salad is outstanding. Mac and Cheese is good. Beans, not so great. I was talking with the lady owner and we were discussing her latest competition going out of business. Their food was not so good, and their BBQ sauce was pitiful. She agreed, and then said that if there was something on their menu that was not up to speed, she’d want to hear about it. Welllll, says I, your beans are pretty boring. She got big eyed and surprised and said she’d put some zip in them right away.
Beans! I wonder who has the best, which would be according to my taste buds. Spring Creek BBQ has good beans. Dickey’s, surprisingly, has good beans.

I’ve eaten there a couple of times…been underwhelmed! Overpriced IMHO…. Not many other choices in the area though

Beans in general are my least favorite to get at bbq places, because in the past they have always seemed to be extremely under whelming I just don't get them anymore.

where is this place located? I'm always up to try new places when in a given area.

It’s on the West side of Lake Limestone, at a wide spot in the road that once was a town or settlement called Old Union. You can get there from Thornton, Marquez, or Groesbeck. GPS will show you. It’s as much a general cafe as it is a BBQ joint, with a decent menu. It’s the go to for folks on that side of the lake. It’s 20 miles from us, but when I want ribs, we go there. And no, it isn’t 407, but it’s good.
