FOUR points away from becoming that all time scoring leader. Game on FOX IOWA vs OSU. A piece of sports history to remember.

Still a ways off from the all time but impressive no doubt. She will break the men's record no doubt.

I have never seen anyone question Caitlin Clark’s womanhood until this post.

Some of you all need to get away from the computer a little more often….

Congrats to her. I true milestone no doubt. I’ll be the first to give credit where credit is due. College sports is still a tough game to succeed in and doing what she did is nothing to scoff at.

I don’t really watch the sport. But, it’s a great accomplishment. Only reason I heard about it, I’d because Sheryl swoops an ex player tried to downplay the record. Saying clark had an extra covid year.
She was forced to apologize.

First off she is a great womens player and represents the game well. But...can't really compare to Pistol Pete. He was not allowed to play as a freshman ( no freshman were allowed to play) and they didn't have 3 pointer lines back in his day. Give him his freshman year and 3 pointers instead of 2's and she would not be even close to surpassing him.

Why are we even comparing women stats to men stats? How does that make a lick of sense?

What I find interesting is that a sport that is so dominated by Black athletes, White players own the scoring records for both male and female players up

The announcers shared that difference on how Caitlin and Pistol Pete reached their scoring records.

Pistol Pete played only 3 years, coach would not allow Freshman to play, no 3 point line back then and Pete averaged 38 shots per game.
Caitlin played 4 years with a 3 point line but only averaged 19 shots per game.

So it seems to be a wash on the difference, what say you?

Throw in the fact that the ball is smaller in the women's game - it's easier for Caitlin to make a shot.

Apples and oranges. Put black defenders on him and then see how many points he would score. He played on unintegrated teams at LSU and almost no opposing SEC schools that he faced during his career had black players either.

BDB- Did not see your post when I basically posted the same info as you did with one glaring exception!

Yep Pistol Pete on played 3 years compared to Caitlan's 4 years, no Pete did not have the 3 point option like Caitlan does!
What you forgot to mention was Pistol Pete averaged 38 shots per game compared to only 19 for Caitlan!!

Sounds like Pistol Pete might have been a ball hog like an guy that I played with in Scholl Named Bob McGeeney. Give bob the ball anywhere on your side of the court and he would toss it up every time.

What this young lady accomplished is nothing short of amazing. She can play some ball. What she did was great for the women's game, but let's not compare it to the men. She set the women's record, she did not break any men's record. The fact they labeled it as such is simply to create a talking point and hype up the women's game.

Lastly why does the color of defender Pistol Pete played against matter or even need to be brought up in this topic? The Pistol had a career average of 24.2 PPG with a high of 31.1PPG in his time in the NBA. The man could play no matter who was guarding him.

Not being naive, I know the point that's trying to be made. But the simple fact is the man could play ball against anyone.

Yeah, and she’s playing against women. The comparison is nonsensical.

The reason I put it up there is because Isiah Thomas and other blacks in interviews told Bird stories about how Larry would give them hell about putting a White guy to defend against him, that it was disrespectful and so on. He often commented to opposing players and their coaches that White guys are no competition for him, it was disrespectful and they need to put a brother on him to make it interesting.

She is one of the best female players to ever play the game. Cant compare women to men Example men are taller and longer so they are closer to the rim. The women's ball is smaller and so are their hands. No way she could compete against men but I would not hesitate to put her in a shooting contest against most male basketball players.
