Working with a nutritionist while starting on Munjaro. Any of my chunky brothers tried this? MUCH cheaper than the Ozempic as my insurance will not cover Ozempic since I don't have diabetes.

My question is what type of diet plan are you following? Healthy low carb as usual?

I eat twice a day; lightly. I walk a mile per day, sometimes 2, and can’t lose weight. I’m 6 ft tall and weigh 212.

Avoid high fat and spicy foods. You need a lot of fiber as well. It may take you some time to figure out the best dosage for your body.

The weight will come back when you get off, unless you can keep a very strict diet and lifestyle change. Most can’t or don’t

It isn’t something you just stop taking. Good luck with this, I worry about what might happen with this one. It is a serious drug.

So serious i honestly think you’d literally be better off on steroids and growth hormone. No joke. These new drugs they come out with are scary

I just saw your ozempic thread. I seriously think you ought to visit an anti-agong clinic and look into HRT with testosterone and HGH. You can probably afford it.

Then get a trainer and hit the weights with zeal. It will be a fun ride.

Good luck Buzz. If it’s anything like Ozempic, it’s hard on your pancreas.

The stuff works, but make sure you’re getting plenty of protein. I went through a round of Mounjaro. It’s tough, but you HAVE to get the protein numbers in or you’ll lose as much muscle as fat.

Im having to kinda force myself to eat more of anything. Its crazy how this drug works.

Yes, it's just another tool.

Yes, any drug can have its downsides.

I am working with a doctor for mine and see a therapist twice a month concentrating on how I can continue this eating lifestyle after I'm done. For me this is the hard part, cuz I LOVE food, or I did.

yep, did both of them in the 90's when it was all the rage. Lost an S-load of weight. Then word came down it could screw with your heart. I went for my first echo cardiogram after that, no problems.

Phentermine is prescribed now for weight loss. The good half of Phen-Phen.

I took it too. Also went to a "nutritionist" that asked me what my biggest food downfall was? Told him Cheetos. He said bring him a bag on the next meeting. I did, and he took them and made a concoction that, upon placing a few drops under the tongue, would make that craving go away. All hogwash!

It has worked great for me, down 75#, with minimal side effects. I think the insulin spike control is behind it all. The big thing it did for me was control impulsive behavior. I got my fair share of addiction in the family so it's no surprise. I don't crave between meal snacks like chips and dips or wanting to drink randomly during the week. Portion size at meals hasn't changed much, but zero snacking now. I've never been a daily drinker... more of a weekend warrior, but when I did I was that guy that never stopped at a couple. If I'm having one, I'm having 12+. I'm happy with a couple beers now.

Other odd things. Before I lost a single pound, I immediately stopped snoring. I have no idea how that is correlated. It is hard on your pancreas so drinking heavily is not an option. I have had to cut my spicy food level cuz it would cause heartburn, but I was kinda over the top on that. Serranos on everything basically. I've had no constipation, but I know that can happen cuz of how it slows gastric emptying, which helps keep you full longer. I do have to eat a higher ratio of protein and even then I have lost some muscle and strength, but that goes along with every rapid weight loss. It's being studied for all kinds of things from treating addiction to kidney issues.

I'm on a maintenance dose from a compounding pharmacy now. So far so good. It ain't cheap, but I save about the same amount by not going out to eat 3 times a week.

In my case the benefits outweigh the risks. Good luck Buzz!

100%

My wife took monjuro after a year of gut health adjustments. She lost 35 pounds but that started with the gut health transformation. She lost muscle because of the lack of protein. She wishes she knew then what she does now. Everyone that asks, she preaches about the protein.

She was on the shots for 6 months and has been off them for almost a year and has maintained her weight without an issue.

I have been wrong before but pretty sure the FDA made HGH illegal a few years back.

I am a believer in the HRT for both men and women if it is monitored and supplemented correctly but I don’t see it as a weight loss alternative without a more extreme lifestyle change than is required with monjuro.

Lost 3 more lbs. Yes, Constipation. I'm daily dosing with Meta Mucil. I got a balance now, so it doesn't "brick" up. flush

Biggest thing is I've lost pretty much all my love for food.

I'm talking with my fat shrink on a maintenance plan when I reach or get close to my goal. I would like to get below 220.

Constipation means a lack of fluid, so you may want to increase your water intake (half your body weight in ounces a day, so a 100 pound person would drink 50 ounces of water a day). You may also try drinking prune juice (I do about 8 ounces 3 to 4 hours before bed...because you want to be awake when it hits) to help move things along.

two months down, lost 36lbs.

Only "bad" side-effect is the constipation which my colorectal Doc said drink MiraLAX every day.

Not much interest in eating or drinking alcohol.

I only lost 1lb this week. This is normal. Some say I need to increase my food and increase walking. Stationary bike.

I see my Fat Doctor tomorrow, probably move me up to the next dose.

stay tuned if you care juggle

went to my fat doctor this morning. She is keeping me on the same dose, said I was losing a little too fast. Apparently this can affect the maintenance when I done losing, about a year long process.

Take it slow and easy. Looks like you're doing good dropping the lbs. Biggest problem with the higher doses for weight loss is the plugged up system it causes.

you are correct sir. its My only side effect besides low energy cuz of low-calorie intake. Trying to eat as much protein as I can. Just not much interest in food.

Doc says daily glass of MiraLAX and a stool softener if needed.

Just saw a news report this drug may also help with sleep apnea. I'd think about taking it just to get off the hose!

Appreciate that….

Looks like you're making great progress. Steady as she goes. It took a while but I am taking less than the recommended dosage. I'm borderline type ll. I've lost weight but it has been slow and steady. If I take too much of it, it really taxes my digestive system. Keep up the good work. Throw in a little exercise. You'll gain or at least maintain some muscle mass. What is your target weight you're shooting for?

Goal is 200# which would be a 100# loss. I'll probably stay on this dosage another month as it is working very good killing my "food noise". I see my fat Doc Friday, see what she thinks.

I'm such a lazy azz. You are so right in getting to the gym. I mentioned, the fat I have now is the belly (love rails) and azz. Chit is solid and I need to burn it off, I guess. I have a lot of loose skin which may or may not tighten. "They" say, the older you are the less elasticity the skin has. I can't afford plastic surgery, so I guess If I do take my shirt off, I'll scare the crap out of everybody.

Great job !!! Its a long ride. I just started month 6 this morning. I'm staying on the 10mg this month. I can't seem to force myself to eat enough protein in a day. I actually gained 2 pounds the last 2 weeks. I got to 63 pounds lost, now I'm back at 61lbs. She says its normal and to eat more protein.

here we go!

Buzz, mixing protein powder with coffee may help. Ask your Dr. Or whatever you want to mix it in.

Walmart canned chicken has 250 calories and about 45 grams of protein. Four cans is about $8. 12.5 oz. cans.

65 down is impressive, however you do it! I lost 80 in a couple of months due to chemo and radiation, but I don’t recommend that as a weight loss strategy!

I am down from 202 to 178 in 2 1/2 months on 5mg. I am debating on staying on this for a while or possibly jumping to the 7.5
Thoughts.... I would like to get to 170-175 and then maintain there...

TKM, you may need to get your Dr to appeal it to the insurance company. If you don't have diabetes or no clinically obese you will find it hard to get approved. The Ozempic pens retail price is $1,000 for a month's supply at a 0.5ml dosage. You might see if you can find a phamacy that will compound a generic version for you. I've heard prices around $200 for the equivalent. There was quite a bit of abuse when the weight loss benefit to Ozempic was discovered.

The maximum recommended dose of Semaglutide is 2/0ml. I don't think you could find anyone to prescribe that high of a dose. You're also supposed to do a laddered approach when starting on it or if you are increasing the dosage. Be careful, more is not necessarily better. That stuff will totally mess up you digestive system even on much lower doses than the max of 2.0ml's.

maybe that is ml and not mg.
Heck I never looked. I just know that I can go to 7.5 if I wanted.. I have heard it will mess with your stomach that is why we started on the 2.5 to start.

MG per ML. as you go up in dosage the MG get higher per ML. That way you arent having to sub Q a whole syringe, or get larger volume syringes

Down 71 pounds this morning. Starting on my 7th month.

Only side effect is constipation. Take a big swig of Phillips Milk of Magnesia every three days keeps it moving. This works for me YMMV.

Medicare does not cover this for me. I go through a doctor near me. They use a compound pharmacy to make my Tarazepide (Munjaro). Munjaro and Wegovy are for weight loss. Tarazepide is the name of the actual juice. I inject myself every Friday. I use a syringe and do it,

I take Ozempic for my borderline type 2. My entire pen is 2mg/3ml. I take 0.25 ml's because any higher of a dose just plugs me up unmercifully I know you take an increased dose for weight loss, but 7.5 mg sounds awfully high to me. Maybe you're getting a weaker strength compounded. You need to be careful with your dosage. More is not necessarily better. You could do some real harm to your body. Just my opinion.

Congrats Buzz! That is fantastic! I am down 54 (started at 260) and have since transitioned to Phentermine 37.5 MG. Constipation is still the biggest challenge but sure curbs the appetite.

so since being home from the cruise, I'm struggling a bit getting back on my good eating habits. Shows me how f'd up I am. I guess I used having covid as an excuse to eat mas carbs.

Well done Sir! I went from 270 to 204, back up to 214 after a few cross-country trips and too much fast-food during deer season. I will hit it "hot and heavy" after Thanksgiving. 190 is my ultimate goal. Keep it up! Definitely a lifestyle change vs. a diet or fad.

Way to go 806!! It's a dogfight every day. Hunting season and the holidays are azz kickers for sure. A good thing is "the shot" kills my cravings and definitely the amount I can eat. It works. yes, it's just another "tool" but it works great!

I’m surprised insurance would pay for Munjaro. My wife just started Ozempic for about half price as Munjaro, cash pay. 2.5mg for about $400 which is a 5 week supply unless she goes up in dosage.

My wife’s been on it for 1.5 weeks. She’s eating about 1200 +- calories a day with little effort. I may try it if I can’t get my shat together on my own for the 100th time I’ve tried…

I'm paying $475 a month for the juice. it's a compound pharmacy, not brand name. I have to load the syringe and stick myself and inject it. no biggie. Medicare won't pay if used for weight loss.

Been taking them for about 2 months. Down from 280 to 250. But mine is only like 200 for 2 month worth of shots. My doctor got me the prescription but it is not covered by insurance.

Buzz, $475 seems high. What dose level are you taking? My SIL gets it but he doesn't pay that much. I'll ask what he pays and where he gets it.

There is legislation in place to get it approved for Medicare.

Peptides are naturally occurring so they can’t patent, so the name brands are patenting/licensing out the applicator. Why I said on semiglutited thread to find compounding pharmacy

Wish they would hurry. Maybe Trump can make it happen. I'm on the highest dose 15ml. Hope to go on a Maintenace dose which will be every 2 weeks. I'm always looking for a more inexpensive outlet.

Buzz, shop your pharmacy. My daughter and SIL are both on it and paying $200/mo each.

R&H, I remember those days. Had a blast and then one came along and took me off the market.

Thats great, just make sure how much the medicine costs every time you jump to the next dose. I'm on 12mg which I think is the highest dosage.

I continue to eat whatever I feel like with little weight gained back. As stated in past posts, I just can't eat a large portion which is helping a bunch. After the 1st of 2025, I will attack the last 25-30 pounds I want to lose.

Good luck to your wife. Tell her to fight through any side effects like nausea, constipation as her body adjusts to it. This is the main problem I see with a couple ladies I know who are trying it, they give up too fast.

Buzz, i'm sitting at 301lbs now, 240 to 245 is when i felt my best going to the gym 3 or 4 nights a week.
Goal is to get around the 230 range. You seem to be doing good on your journey.
