College was never “necessary” for everyone. Nor will it ever be. College has been over prescribed by parents that want little Johnny to be successful. Guess what some little johnnys are going to work down at the ford house and make a good living doing so.
You want to make a degree worth something and bring down the affordability of it. Remove the bankers from the business plan. The guaranteed loans and now the hippie mantra of College is free is devaluing the college degree at a rate comparable to inflation.

Instead of enriching the education, they make it cost more for the perceived greater value.

Henry Ford did not go to college. Abraham Lincoln did not go to college.
If a kid has an actual career goal like nursing,MD, geologist etc then college yes. But if not go to a trade school.
