She's finally put together (Thank you Tony at ZG Custom!!). I wanted to put together a fun training rifle to play with the 6mm bullets. The full rifle specs I put below. Long story short, a good friend of mine was selling his Surgeon 591 (B series serial number) rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor that was shot out. He made me a really good deal on the whole rifle, barrel, stock, action, magazine, etc. I gave it to Tony to put a new 6mm barrel on it. And most of all, paint it Black Cherry!! I have plenty of rifles that are black, green, tan, etc. I wanted something in a totally different color. So Black Cherry it is! I shot it yesterday trying 3 different powders (mainly for velocity info), and groups are very promising so far. An H4350 load turned in a 1" group at 250 yards, with right to left wind opening it up to 1", running 3036 fps. I'll play around this node, I think. I'll be shooting the Berger 108 Elite Hunter bullets in it. (It's amazing how simple, or easy as pie, it is to find a good load with H4350 with zero load work up)

When Surgeon was making their original 591 actions, the A and B serial numbers were their original one's before they were sold/bought out. These were very desirable and were VERY good actions. Many of us local shooters did a large buy on Surgeon 591 actions, and all us got the B series actions. This action is only a few serial numbers away from my original (current) Surgeon 591 action chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua and 308 Win (it's a switch barrel). My buddy had already burned up several barrels on this action, so the action and bolt were broken in and VERY smooth. These actions get smoother the more you work it and shoot. So I was really excited to get this action and build a "new" rifle on. Anyways, "Black Cherry Pie" is all put together and I'll be using her as my main training rifle for now. I'll post up accuracy and groups once I get her all dialed in.

Rifle Specs:
Action- Surgeon 591 (B series)
Barrel- Bartlein 3B contour, 1:8" twist, finish out at ~22"
Stock- MPA chassis
Trigger Tech trigger
Scope- Primary Arms 5-25 SLX (picked up off the prize table at Rifles Only)
Vortex 34mm low rings
Suppressor- Shark Tigershark, 300 Win Mag rated
Cerakote- Black Cherry, baby!

It's amazing what a properly built rifle will do "hint"

I like it and it's unique. You need to get a black SAC two shot holder and ditch the brown/FDE one....outside of that, it's perfect wink

I bet she lays down some beautiful trace rofl

Congrats Chad!

Thanks, Buzz!! Yes, I currently have several thousand pieces of high-end Peterson brass (LRP), so that's the route I went.

Thanks, Judd! I'm pretty sure I have a black one at the house! Good idea! I'll change it out. (And I'm sure we'll get some trace!)

I almost went full Barbie pink on it. But I figured that might be a little much!! Even my daughter gave me a side head and eye squint on that idea. (I almost nicknamed it Bubble Gum 6)

I've got a good Barbie joke, but I'd get banned if I posted it here. Lol.

If it gets stolen you can at least narrow the subject list to only women.

It's not quite that simple in this day and age.

Fast 6mms from a heavy rifle are just so much fun. I'm running my 107s around 2900 just in hopes that it buys me a little extra barrel life, and a little extra time to spot hits.

Just messing with you Chad. It’s likely more accurate than anything I own.

I'll need to put it on a scale and let you know. Hopefully much less than some of my big guns.

I’ll bet it’s a lot more fun to shoot than it is to look at.

As far as a chassis rifle goes I’d say it is a darn fine looking rifle, with sex appeal up

Let’s see how she shoots

I am just patiently waiting for pictures of the teensy little bug holes this will make with your hand loads. We all know it’s pretty much a given, three shot groups will probably look something like a one shot hole.

That's a beautiful rig! If it shoots as good as it looks, you're gonna have a real winner on your hands, Chad!
