Got this in a trade, noticed two extra screw holes for a side mounted scope base.

Wondering if anyone knows which one it might be.

Distance between the holes is 2.4” on center.

Each of the screws is marked “R” or “F” (rear/front I’m guessing)

Planning to sell it but want the appropriate scope base beforehand.[Linked Image]

I'd leave it alone and buy a screw kit to replace the buggered up screws.
A 39A is a classic and needs TLC.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Those aren't OEM Marlin 39A screws so I don't know how he'd find a kit.

Here's my 1951 model for reference. My Redfield peep sight mounts to the OEM screw holes on the 39A frame. The ones above are aftermarket only for an unknown base. Factory D&T 39As have four holes in the TOP for a traditional style scope mount. I might try and find someone to TIG the holes shut or I'd leave it as is.
