My wife hates pork. I can take it or leave it. We make a ham about four times a year and we eat bacon and sausage when the craving gets flung on us. We don't buy much pork and bacon is stupid expensive ... as is coffee, peanut butter, honey, real syrup, cream, fish, chicken, beef, gun powder, and primers.

Pass the gravy.

Pork / The other White Meat. The pork industry came out with that marketing campaign the same year I started managing a meat market for Winn Dixie (1987). They spent a ton of $$$ on commercials, signage and point of sale stickers. In Texas, it will always be runner-up to beef. Here are some of the pork dishes I fix, and we eat on a regular basis. Pan seared thick pork chops, battered and fried pork chops, St. Louis Style ribs, pulled pork, Canadian bacon, Spiral ham, country style ribs and Carne Adovada. All of these range in price from a 1.00-1.99 per lb. when bought on sale. Pork is a very inexpensive cut of meat and taste great as long as it`s not over cooked. With the exception of bacon, pork is probably as cheap today as it was when I exited the grocery business (meat market manager) in 2006. Any beef dish similar to these below would cost 2-3 times as much.
