They have one Japanese line, the rest are China.

Honestly I’ve heard nothing but good except glass quality regarding the Chinese line.

Mechanically sound.

IMO they're kind of like Vortex. Penetrated the market with low price, slowly building a rep, but increasing prices as they go. As Bushnell and Nikon exit the rifle scope market (or greatly reduce offerings), somebody has a chance to take their place. Early reports are solid but it remains to be seen if they hit the same wall as Vortex, where it's a 75-80% product but it's never going to be an A. Do they sponsor anyone in PRS or similar classes? If so, eventually we'll receive some true feedback on reliability, even if it's on their top offerings.

They are pretty decent. On the low end, around $120 bucks, they are definitely beating the competition in that price range and all those scopes are Chinese so there is no competition to them. Higher end scopes, I don’t know. If I have at least $300 to spend on a scope it’s probably gonna be a Leupold for me. Maybe a Vortex. If I were spending up into the thousands I would probably get a low to mid Swarovski, or maybe a top end Leupold.

Master Plumb, I have one I just got and am happy with. No idea where it's made and really don't care. It does what it is supposed to do and has good glass.

I have an Athlon Midas 2.5-15. I like it just fine and can’t find anything about it I don’t like. The Illuminated reticle has very good range (dim to bright), which makes it useful.

I have an Ares G2 UHD 15-45x65 spotting scope. I'm certainly good with it overall. Thanks to Doug and the posse at Camera Land NY for the spotter-tripod setup.

Big Jim Fish was on the Everyday Sniper Podcast talking about sub $1k scopes. Brings up a few different models of Athlon along with several others. He speaks on their pros and cons. Good info here if interested.

I have two Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50 FFP MIL that I regularly take out to 1k. For the price they perform very well IMO.
