I feel like this is a good time to introduce sweet gherkins into the conversation. Nope! Just as bad as those other bread and butter abominations... THIS ... all sweet pickles are gross. We used to can our own pickles. But now we mostly use old family recipes for refrigerator pickles. Same with salsa and pickled okra. We also do a refrigerator version of mixed vegetables.
My favorite is pickled cabbage and carrots on a grilled cheese patty melt. I have some pickled carrots in the fridge I made but haven't tried. I had some extra carrots from the garden and thought they might go bad before consumed and I was already making pickled jalapenos from the garden so I knew I got make extra brine.
Pass the gravy.

When I was a grasshopper and we had folks coming over for dinner, Mom had to watch me like a hawk that I didn't snarf up all the little sweet gherkins in the relish tray and put the black olives on my fingertips. I have no explanation.
