Been a while since I last posted. Duck camp is coming along. We are dried in, plumbing is done, electrical is in place and operable by a pigtail to a generator, insulated. My bedroom is done with AC, in the summer that’s bad azz! A hot shower and a cold room goes a long way for comfort. The dog and I took the barge across to put antifreeze in the P traps and toilet bowl and tank. I drained the rest. I stayed the night with the understanding this weather was to hold off until Sunday evening. BS!!!!!!! The north wind hit west Matty ove 20 mph at 0500. By the time daylight came I was coffees up and ready to get off the island. Things were about to get western on the bay. I’ve plenty experience with west bay to know 21 mph out of the north is nothing short of extremely dangerous, especially in a pontoon boat. I can’t explain it but the boat was tied in the most wrong place possible for a north wind. By the time I got there, three half inch ropes had popped due to the waves. Only one7/8s rope held the boat against the bulkhead and the boat was taking a beating. One mistake getting out of that wave pinch point would have been a disaster. I would have lost the boat for sure. I don’t really care about the boat but was definitely concerned for me and dog. I had 20 yards to get the boat off the wall in 4 foot waves and get it turned around and pointed into the waves. One shot! Not at all easy but I got her turned in between the waves. Once turned, the deck was now a lawn dart through the waves. The further out the higher the waves. I knew 6 and 7 footers were ahead. Once beyond those things got back to 3 and 4 footers for the 8 mile trip. I am very conscientious about my surroundings and realized fairly quickly the bitch got pitched off the boat. We made it back to the house in POC for dry clothes and to dry my jacket. 18 more miles back to the trailer and that adventure was done. I don’t like chances and it will bite me in the azz one day. I just didn’t want to lose a boat and be stuck until Tuesday. Note to self, don’t believe a dang thing the weatherman says.at least me and the mutt are good.

It’s looking good Wayne. We had a reunion get together this last weekend. We are going to do it every year. You need to plan on coming down.
