Yes, handloaders can trickle loads to reduce but does the average guy do that? I don't, I don't often shoot > 100 yds. Nothing against money shooters, I'm not one and probably most here aren't - but a few here seem to want to dictate real world physics. I shot my new Long Ranger 308W a while back, as much a pencil barrel as anything, pretty fast and still had a good group @ 100. 4 shots 50 yds Amax load, 0.5 MOA. 5 shots @100, ES 1.01 MOA, SD 0.29 MOA. Good enough for hunting. My communication better?

^^That has nothing to do with the bore being a tad larger, as you claimed.

"Dictate real world physics"

Not dictate, but can comment, from experience about the physics of internal as well as external ballistics. You're in the company of some people that have made (not purchased) exceptional ammunition. Ammunition hand made for pistol, shotgun and rifle. I do not load much pistol, and I have never loaded any shotgun ammo. I have also never made lead cast bullets. So when questions are asked about pistol, shotgun, lead casting; I keep my thoughts to myself, and just read, not reply. Try it some time.

Am I missing something here? Since when are ES and SD part of measuring group sizes?

ES is high minus low - doesn't make any diff what you measure. SD is the (statistical 'average'), again don't make any diff what you measure.
