dang 125tnt bullets. as you can see, this sow took several hits, ALL in the vitals; one severing the spine, one in the neck and two in the brain. 4 other hogs ran off with the rest of the ammo in my magazine

Yes Bill, lots of peanut fields. Both my brother-in-law and my son raise peanuts, and so does my main hunting partner. We get lots of damage and I do a pretty fair amount of crop damage control and field sitting at night during certain times of year (planting and harvest). These came out of one of my BIL's fallow peanut fields last night. I have shot quite a few big pigs out of this particular field over the years, it is just a half mile from the river.

Here is a link to the video of the shot on the big boar last night. I hit him a little high and for sure further back than I should have but he still dropped like a rock. My shot placement suffers sometimes when I am trying to keep on target, count, and make sure my partner still has a shot all at the same time. Slight quarter-to angle, hard to see in the video. Bullet went through the back of the shield on the front side, through ribs, probably clipped the spine and deflected upwards, (I didn't dig that deep) and stopped just under the shield on the off side. Roughly 14"-15" of penetration.

JTPinTX, The bullet performance is exactly what this bullet normally does and the portion of the bullet that was shed off in fragments also do a lot of damage. What did the recovered bullet weigh? I'm guessing around 90gr.

Bill, do you have any gel tests/bullet recovery pictures of your bonded offering?

I imagine he is a dealer for Pocket Drag. I'm not sure who actually owns the Pocket Drag company, but pretty sure the owner of North Texas Piggin and Gear the Hunt (Paul) is tied in pretty close with them. I "think" Pocket Drag is out of OK. A good friend of mine in OK that slays a ton of coyotes had them make him a custom drag, and I think he said they are OK based. I am not sure at all on on that though. To be honest I'm not sure if it was Paul at NTP who asked me permission to use my pic or if it was the owner of Pocket Drag. Doesn't matter, I am cool with whoever using the picture. I can even send them some new ones if they need them, lol. Kind of cool to have one of your own pics as marketing for a product, lol.

Bill, I have not had a chance to weigh that bullet yet but I will tonight. I bet you are right, if I had to guess I would say somewhere between 85-100 grains retained weight. That one is actually the flat point version, crimped behind the factory groove.

Wilson RN version of the 130 Hot Core on the left, Original Speer FP in the center, recovered FP on the right. Retained weight 93.3 grains, which is 71.8%. IIRC that percentage is roughly what the Partition was originally designed to achieve.

Looks like the cannelure is moved down about one width and unless my eyes are deceiving me a little, the ogive is less angular, slightly more rounded and the meplat is a smidge wider on the WC version. When I thought round nose vs flat nose, I was just thinking about the exposed lead at the tip... Yea, I get caught up in the details sometimes. Mr Wilson says performance is basically identical.

I’ve been following this thread for some time now, and handloading for my 18” and 11.3” 300 Hamr for some time also. Been up in MO with the 11.3” gun hunting alternative season trying to get some meat down. Last night had a nice doe walk out about 60 yards out and I put the Hamr on her! She ran about 40 yards and I heard her fall over. Was using the 130gr Hamr Hot Core over CFE. Entry and exit looked good and not much left of the organs. Not much of a blood trail which surprised me. Very thankful for the meat and to finally put something down with the Hamr!

Any estimates on approximately where the node is going to be with 130 HC, lot 20 of CFE BLK, 16" Ranger bbl with Sico Omega. I am sitting at 27.5 (I think) right now just based off a quick ladder test but plan to refine that this week. I got 500 cases on Friday and worked through them this weekend (size, trim, chamfer, prime). Plan to have them all loaded up by the end of next weekend. Serious pig killing time is coming up pretty quick.

30 rounds later i realize old age has caught up with me. eye/trigger finger coordination is gone. add to that my handicap of shooting those 'no hog killing' 125 tnt bullets and the result is 4 stinking hogs. i'm embarrassed to even post this...

I just finished my load development for the 130gr HC using an AR15 (16" Recon barrel). My initial testing showed that somewhere in the 27.5gr - 28.0gr powder band was going to be the best. After some additional testing, the most accurate load 130gr HC in my rifle is 27.8gr CFEBLK. The average velocity was 2,396 fps.

I tested this in factory brass and my converted cases with no noticeable difference in accuracy. Here piggy piggy!!!

Thanks Smoked Pork. I can't really tell any difference between factory and converted LC brass either. My initial ladder test showed 27.5, but it was kind of fast and dirty test and I have not refined it yet.

I have killed plenty of pigs with the 125 TNT, and some of them pretty big ones too. But I think the 130 HC will do better on the 200+ lb ones than the 125. And the price is pretty much the same now anyways. I've got 1K of the 130's, and an unopened 500 box of the 125's left to save for a rainy day.

Looks like for my gun it is going to be 28.0 of lot 20 of CFE BLK with the 130 Hot Core, in WC brass. Have not checked velocity but it is shooting right at MOA or a hair under. Loads nice, even though it is a bit compressed that is not an issue with a good crimp groove in the right place on the Wilson version bullets. To me this bullet just feels right, much more in line with the original design and concept of this cartridge. I think I am really going to like it.

JT, how does that 28.0 load look for pressure signs? I have a series of singles loaded up to see where the pressure signs start, but stopped at WC's published max of 27.9gr. Those primers getting flat? Edit... my lot is 28, so I'm gonna creep up on it like I'm supposed to,I was just wondering.

Pressure signs look good. I am using the Fiocchi primers and even at 28.0 there is no rounding of the corners or anything. It was about 40 degrees when I tested this morning so I might back it down to 27.8 to give a little more safety room for summertime shooting. My 125 TNT load is more mild, I never really tried to push it hard. Pretty sure it was 27.5 with a 5 grain lighter bullet. The 130 HC load does shoot 1 MOA higher (I assume more recoil impulse), so a slight zero adjustment, not much. L/R no shift. Real world shooting on pigs the loads will be pretty much interchangeable. Ill zero for the 130, and know the TNT is just a hair low if a shot is that critical.

Now that I think about it, IIRC, the reason I stopped at 27.5 with the 125 TNT was because it was compressing charges, and with the different shaped ogive and no good crimp groove I was concerned about bullet movement (basically the compressed charge pushing the bullet out). That is also an issue with the 90 TNT in the Grendel. Not the compressed charge part, but on the Grendel you have to be right out at the edge of magazine length to be able to crimp on the shank of the bullet and not the beginning of the ogive. At any rate, I think that was why I stopped at 27.5 with the TNT. It shot good and I saw no reason to try and push it more.

In relation to that discussion, I really like the way the 130 HC fits the magazine. Plenty of room, and it just looks like it was meant to be that way. I don't like playing right on the edge of magazine length if I don't have to.

You can use the same data as the 125gr Controlled Chaos for the new Maximum Expansion or Xtreme Chaos.
