I had not been able to hunt since late March due to flooding, a death in the family, and other things that happened around here for a stretch of time.

Got a little 60 pound sow Monday night, the 5th. Shooting from my preferred blind.

Tuesday night I sat in another blind and saw hogs come in...I shoulda hit one and think I did but it did not stay down. Feeder is very close to cover at that site. If I got it, I couldn't confirm it.

Similar goings on Wednesday night, the 7th at my preferred blind. The hog was obviously hit on the first shot but did not go down. Three subsequent shots appeared to miss. The hog was very quickly approaching the fenceline and the cover that grows thickly along it. I led the hog just a wee bit more and fired almost at the same time it reached cover. I felt like I must have hit the hog that last shot but even using a thermal scanner I could not locate it. The next morning the buzzards suggested I check a certain spot and bingo. I was surprised at the size of the sow. I wasn't about to cross under barbed wire onto another's property to drag it out, but I think the pig would have gone around 180.

Got my first crossbow kill on Saturday opening day, Houston County at 5:10 pm. Two hogs came to my feeder and I was able to get one. She ran about 40 feet and keeled over. No luck on deer though.

Last night was decent. I forgot about this hog count post and I have lost count on how many I have shot this year. These three make 286. You could very safely add another 10 to that for my year but I'm not sure if that is acceptable.
