TPWD is proposing a mandatory harvest reporting for Turkeys. Thought it would be a good idea to post about it here.

It is already mandatory for eastern birds only , doesn't seem feasible to do it for Rios since there are a tremendous amount of those .

How is it not feasible? It’s just 4 birds per person maximum.

400,000 hunters reporting turkey harvest is kinda nuts , would be like everyone reporting every deer that was harvested . Huge waste of resources but that is JMO .

What resources are going to be wasted?

Why wouldn't they just ask when you purchase your license the following year.

You know, kind of like they do with the HIP survey.

Wouldn’t that be mandatory harvest reporting? There is already a system in place with the eastern reporting process and with digital licenses.

Its solid data, anything to make better wildlife decisions Im all for.

Most states have had harvest reporting for all species for decades. CO, NM, Okla, Etc

So 400k isnt really a big deal. 2 seconds of your life.
