So my cabin got broken into last week and while they didn't get much, it obviously ticks me off. The biggest deal is that they also stripped all the wire out of the power pole. I had always intended on having a few cameras watching it, but got complacent and never got it done.
Of course, now I'm looking for my best option. I'll also be putting a 12v powered alarm system on it, but need advice on one or two good cellular cams as well. Since these won't be for documenting game, I shouldn't need a massive data plan or anything, but I'm not really even sure how all of that stuff works especially across the different options out there. As always, would like to have something workable but as budget-minded as possible.
Any advice is helpful.
Thanks, Jay

+1 on the Tactacam. Comes with both AT&T and Verizon SIM cards so you can see which network has the strongest signal. $5 a month for 250 pictures and you can set it up to send you a picture of your place everyday.

Watching.
I’ve thought the same thing. My mobile home is at the end of a private road; about 300 yards from the county gravel road. I don’t live there but have a trailer house, tractors, equipment, etc. 4 wheelers and tool chests are in a locked shipping container but that only provides minimum security.
Do the cams go on a cell phone plan or?

I’ve tried Spypoint, cuddeback, browning and Tactacam. My Tactacam reveal x pro is by far the most reliable camera I own and takes the best pictures.

Dave, you pay for the data plan through Tactacam the cameras and account are managed through a phone app. There is also a wi-fi radio in the cameras so you can set them up in real time and see what the pictures will look like by using the phone app. The basic plan is $5 a month per camera for 250 pictures, unlimited is $13. More than one camera it's a pool of pictures between them. If you go over in a month you can set it up to add 250 addition pictures @$5 each. There is a discount for paying for a full year in advance and there are plans for more pictures per month. Here's the website for more info. REVEAL Data Plans

The reveal x pro itself runs $149 sometimes you can catch it on sale for $129. Atwood’s is a good place to check for it. The plan cost $12 a month for unlimited photos. There is also a $8 per month upgrade to get on demand and hd photos. So $20/month. That’s the plan I use. Well worth it.

I've always worried about getting too many pictures. I use Reconyx cameras for my feeders. Sometimes I get thousands of pictures of grass moving in the wind. Do the Tactacams have reliable settings so you get mostly warm-bodied animals?

Take a look at Reolink battery powered security cameras. I have 8 of the Reolink Go PT Plus with solar panel they run about $180 each. I use eiotclub for SIM card. 2 gigs for $10. Works with ATT, Verizon, T Mobile towers. Really pleased with them.
