Congrats. I remember when I got my first duck gun. It was a Remington semi-auto. Had issues with it cycling so we took it back and traded it for an 870. I still have that gun but I don't shoot it any more. I need to get a new barrel that will shoot steel and has screw in chokes.
He'll remember this as well. It's a shotgun now. A dozen dozen field decoys in case you go up north to hunt geese...When you've bought the duck boat, you'll know you hit bottom.
No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

Duck hunting addiction is a real thing. Since my sons first duck hunt last month, he’s been consumed by it. He and some of his buddies have gone to Anahuac NWR several times to hunt. They’ve come home empty handed each time but he says they have fun regardless. He’s constantly on Facebook marketplace looking for decoys, a sled, a dog, etc. He’s a senior in high school and had several football scholarship offers but an injury ended his career early so he’s shifted his focus to other things. His outlet has been hunting and fishing. Not a bad trade off and a lot easier on the body. He is a straight A student, takes care of his business, and isn’t a ****. He had been eyeballing that shotgun for a few weeks online, so his mom and I decided to surprise him with an early graduation present.. He was stoked!

What a great way to spend quality time with your son! It sounds like you raised him right.
