Wife and I were drawn for November 10-14 archery hunt. Looking for leads on some places very near the NWR HQ. Only want a clean, air-conditioned place with shower and kitchenette. I don't want to spend a lot of time on the road traveling back and forth as we will be on the NWR from before light to after dark hunting. I appreciate the leads in advance. Hope to see some of y'all out there.

i have stayed in south padre island and arroyo city around there. really not much close as the NWR is a peninsula of its own and 30 to 40 minute drive to either location. if you have hotel points built up or just want some better food options i would look in south padre, there is some small motor inns on the way to south padre . if you just want a bed Arroyo City has some fish cabin type places that work out

Port Isabel has a few budget hotels. Port Isla Inn and Casa Rosa Inn. About 20-30 minutes from the refuge main gate.

I've hunted and killed at LA archery hunt before. My group stayed in a waterfront house near Adolph Thomae Park last time but 3 way split on price. This year I will be hunting with my wife as we both drew. She requires a place where we won't get bed bugs or stolen blind. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would appreciate it. I will research the budget hotels and Arroyo City cabins.

When we hunting there in January 2022 we stayed at the Port Isla Inn. Cheap and was close.

I was at the 11/10 - 11/14 hunt...which was brutal as it rained 4 1/2 days of the 5 . geting my gear out in the mud was a pain.
I stayed at Port Isla Inn. been there several times. it is cheap and is good for what it's purpose is. It has a kitchenette and most stuff works. You may get a burner not work. My living room ceiling fan didn't work well.
But all in all it is a good place to stay on a hunting trip. Walking distance to Pizza & happy juice store. H.E.B. is cross the road a block away & walmart close by.
It is not fancy, but it works.
