Went out yesterday afternoon and saw a few deer and a few more pigs. About 15 minutes before dark I saw what I thought was a shooter buck following a doe. Got a brief glimpse of him, grabbed my rifle and started trying to find him again. Finally caught him sneaking through a mesquite flat right behind my blind trying to keep up with the doe. He stopped and I got a good look at him and he only had 6 points, but was heavy, wide , and tall, but definitely had only 6 points with no brow tines. That sort of took the wind out of my sails as I thought he was a shooter for sure. I never had a good shot at him, but he is an obvious cull not having any brow tines by the property owner's definition. He was an older deer fitting into the 5 1/2 or older category. He may have been inferior rack wise with no brow tines, but he was definitely mature body wise. I had another buck at the feeder earlier that was smaller body wise and horn wise that also only had 6 points with no brow tines. Would bet that he was an offspring of the bigger deer. The bigger buck is close to 20 inches wide, if not wider and plenty tall with decent mass. Wondering if anyone has ever mounted an obvious cull? He is a beautiful deer and I would be tempted to have him mounted if I shot him. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so why not?

20 in wide 6point?
I would be super happy with that.

I usually do skull mounts of every mature deer my dad or I harvest regardless of score. If they make it to that age (usually shooting at 6.5+ on the ranch), our opinion is that they deserve it vs just being a pair of antlers in the shed pile. There are some “culls” or lower scoring bucks included in that and my top target that I’m hoping to get this year is an 8.5 year old buck that won’t score 90” that will definitely be going up on the barn wall

Full mount? No. Euro? Yes. Every buck gets at least a euro done. But, like you said "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" If you like him enough, get the full mount done. You'll be the one looking at him on your wall every day.
Actually, I'll correct myself. One buck that I shot got the skull cap sawed off and screwed to the porch wall at our camp in OK. One buck I sawed the antlers off and made a nice set of rattling antlers. One got smashed on accident and became my wedding band and a knife handle. But they all get used one way or another.

I have a buddy that shot a 24” wide 6-point a few years back. The bases were like holding a beer can. One of the biggest bodied deer I’ve ever seen around here. He had it mounted (and I would too). A trophy is in the eyes of the beholder. I hunt almost 100% public land, and a lot of guys on here would scoff at what I consider a trophy.
