Built a couple more of these primitive but very useful benches based on the plans and historical photos in A.J. Hamler's "Civil War Woodworking." There are some wonderful projects in that book. Just a bit more touch-up and they are ready for use.

Nice work. I make some benches on the very same pattern. Very sturdy design. Normally I use treated 2x12 pine and paint them with Behr stain/sealer. They should last for decades.

I've made some similar, but not as nice.
I didn't use a plan, just throwed together based on the length of the
scrap lumber I'd picked up while shopping the piles out for
bulk trash pickup day

Someone asked. These are 32 inches long, 19 inches high, 11 1/4 inches wide and weigh just under 14 pounds.
