We’ve all seen tripod deer and other injuries…. But did this buck survive in your opinion?
(This isn’t my pic and I have no idea of the outcome)

I think that happened to my son when he "jumped the broom." They had a kid, but still. confused2

I say no because I took a shot at one I shouldn’t have when I was a kid. 222 with a Barnes Varmint Grenade hit nothing but sack. It exploded and he died after running about 20 yards. I assume it was a massive heart attack.

Darn near did that to myself on a flat picket fence back when I was a kid. Was swinging like “Tarzan” on a rope that was tied to a tree growing next to the fence. Needless to say, I didn’t stick the landing on the 2 X 4; one leg on one side; one leg on the other. Was fun for awhile.
Infection probably set in on that deer if he didn’t bleed out.

had one do that in northern Burnet county 20-25 years ago, we bordered the Goodrich ranch, that had some really good deer. we found something like that photo. The next year we had a freak antler buck roaming around that looked like uprooted cedar stumps on his head and no sack, figured it might be that same buck.

Happens to every steer we eat only with a pocket knife instead of a fence. Not sure why a deer would not survive.

Probably died of shame. Went and stood in the middle of the road just waiting to get run over.
