Bucks patrolling the tree line entering wheat field. Does have to pass the sniff test before entering. Looks like a rodeo back in the brush and trees with all the chasing. I’m amazed still happening this late and going at it this hard. Throckmorton County.

I have the same bucks and a couple of big groups of does hitting corn and the bucks are on the cotton heavy again. I kind of expected and hoped a couple of older bucks would show back up late season but so far they haven't, not too far from the property line though and they have wheat close by so they could have been harvested. I have a big wheat field west of me and have been setting up my spotter and watching the movement late afternoon heading to the wheat, It's amazing the numbers and how far it is pulling deer from our place. Some afternoons you can see 80-100 deer cross heading the the field. We are west of Newcastle on 380 and all of the Reynolds wheat fields are full of deer every single evening. Safe to say, it's all about the food!

That plus the wheat and the deer don't have to move during daylight here post rut. This week with a 15 hour full moon there is just very little mature deer movement. One of those years.

Only pigs seen Saturday afternoon and this morning. Figure the full moon didn't help. Our landowner finally got fed up and set up a trap. Has caught 120 in 3 days.

SW Young. In two hunts I have seen 4 different legal bucks out in daylight at my feeder. On our place 10 years ago this was unheard of this late in season. One of them under my feeder as I type this.

Sniper, morning, afternoon or both?? One yesterday afternoon for over an hour. The others this morning. One I am 90% sure one was my target buck right at first light. Huge body, but I could not be certain on the antlers because of no contrast caused from similar colored boulders in the background in the low light. It did not stick around long enough. I went to pull a memory card from my camera and found I had it on "aim". Dang it.

Not too aggravating. I'm happy we are seeing several legal bucks this year, some real nice ones, that are close to surviving the season that will be bigger next season. And a bumper crop of does. I'm going to take another doe this trip. I counted 9 at one of my stands Saturday morning.

DQ, You getting a lot of pressure around you? We have a nice sized place about 4500 acres and less than 10 of us, but have had great day time movement all season long, I've got pics this morning of two mature bucks on corn and cotton. We are probably within 5-10 miles of you.

My small acreage off a Farm to Market road involves a certain level of luck and timing for sure. I was seeing good day movements during archery season and very early rifle season, then mostly nocturnal after. May need a nice food plot next season....

We had good movement all season, but pressure is not heavy around us. We are just a few miles NE of DQ. My son arrowed a 142 during bow season & that was all we took.

I have a stand on the other side of our lease we call the back 40. Because I have focused my efforts on the stand I am seeing all the bucks, I have not hunted the back 40 in over a month. No one has. I pulled the memory card on it today. In all that time it has had almost no daytime deer movement despite no hunting pressure. It is amazing how one stand on the same place, both along the same creek bottom, can have a deer party going on in daylight almost every day, and the other stand only visited at night.

Shot a doe in the fog Thursday morning, buck activity has been way down but we haven't had a true frost to kill all the cool season forbs that are still bright green. Once that happens they should hit the corn pretty hard

No one is deer hunting anymore. Time to kill ducks, call coyotes, and build a fire in the fireplace. Shift your gears, there's always next year.
