What are we seeing, hearing the past 5-7 days? Has the rut gotten underway in full force and tenacity? Are the mature bucks chasing?

Only pulled 5/16 cams this morning but significant uptick in daylight movement and bucks starting to travel to other areas of the ranch than their normal stomping grounds. No signs of chasing yet, but hard for cameras to pick that up considering does don’t come to our feeders. Shot a nice hog this morning

Have been in the blind a couple hours . Wanted to see if chasing was happening yet. Doe are moving now . Put out a bag and they are already on it. Wind has them jumpy. No bucks yet.

Had a single doe come in after 8 doe left . She was being followed by a mature 9 pointer . He is staying with her but not pushing hard.

Saw four doe/fawns driving to the blind out feeding early. Turkey hens were out most of the evening. Saw a sounder of small hogs that is now missing one member. Had a 4.5yo 8pt chase a doe to the leg of my stand before realizing she wasn’t interest. He proceeded to chase another doe in the distance. Saw two middle age bucks late cruising with intent but too far and too quick to identify.

All in all a lot moving tonight and the bucks are starting to look for the hit does.

Lots of does this morning, but no bucks so far. Real quiet for opening morning. One distant shot early and I heard someone shoot a pig. I could hear it in the distance screaming like a woman from the first shot until a second followup shot. And that's it so far. Most years iit would normally sound like a war around me.

Some distant shots early then around 8:30am, shot on ranch to my south only 500 yards away maybe went off. Guessing a deer, not hog at that time. Overall, slow morning. Bumped one doe driving in.

I’m headed back out, bumped 5 doe on the way in. Did see a young 8 chasing two does.

Nothing tonight, heard one rifle shot that sounded like it came from either my highfence neighbor or a leased out place across the road

I sat in the blind Friday night and saw a couple of does, a couple of small 6s and a legal 8. Went back to the same blind this morning and saw a spike, the same small 6's, same 8 and a 10 that I was tempted by passed. On camera we are seeing way more bucks than does. Last year was the opposite.

I saw 2 young bucks and one yearling during yesterday's afternoon hunt. The 2 bucks were cruising along about 45 minutes before dark with no interest in corn. Looking for love I suppose, daylight feeder activity seems to have tailed off a lot in last 3-5 days. Boys are out looking to spread their seed.

Slow Friday evening in Elbert. Picked up 10:00 Saturday morning,Buck chasing 3 does. Saturday evening at least 30 deer in wheat field and a really nice 10, not interested in does. Sunday decent 8 and 2 spikes in feeder. Absolutely beautiful heavy horned buck in wheat dogging the ground for hot doe. Tempted but too far, too foggy.

Quarter mile across the county line into Stephens the mature bucks are rutting. Watched a good buck pen up a doe for 20 minutes yesterday. Step for step, then she finally broke and the chase was on.

I’ll be out again next weekend, my buddy shot a really nice 11pt buck. Held off on a 8pt buck and I’m glad I did I have a STUD coming around. I got my fingers cross, lucky penny in my pocket and all the good juju stuff hopefully I get to see him in person!

Three younger deer this morning. Neighbor’s son passed on a really nice 4.5YO 10pt which was great to hear. They have historically not hunted and leased to a group with less discretion so excited if that means more stud young deer are going to be walking around

Yesterday evening I watched three different legal bucks trail the ground where two does had passed by earlier. I am hoping tomorrow's front will trigger a bigger one to move during daylight. I'm also seeing more does this season than I have in a long time, but I have noticed this week they are starting to go for the wheat fields more than the feeders now.

On Saturday afternoon I saw bucks trailing (but not chasing) does. I watched one buck hanging around two does for about 20 min and he had his mouth open the entire time. Should only ramp up this coming weekend.

Looking for a fight this morning.

buddy of mine told me he seen buck chasing yesterday afternoon... will be out all weekend with this cold front it should be good

Not fare north of you DQ, rattled 6 bucks after lunch yesterday. Saw another 5 together with one hot doe.

Rattled in 2 young bucks this evening - they came in quick and anxious to see what the fuss was about. Had a bigge4 buck come in 20 min later but not sure if for the rattle or just cruising.

I'm on the north side of young county. Lots of chasing this morning.
