Spent 2 weeks in Barcelona, Malaga, and Madrid this past summer. I would spend no more than 2 days in Madrid (flew back home out of there), but Barcelona and Malaga are great.
So much history and interesting things to see. But in some regards, Spain has traits of a 3rd world country. Businesses will attempt to scam you, restaurants will add bogus charges to your bill and serve you food that you did not order hoping you will eat it, cabbies will scam you, and pickpockets will target you. The food starts to get old after a while. Jamón Ibérico and Manchego cheese are so good the first few times, but it seemed to be a staple everywhere we went. Same for paella.
If you're looking for specific must dos, LMK.

Yes several times. Do you speak any Spanish?
Get out into the countryside and smaller cities. Gringo Bling mentions some of the bad of the major cities.

Here's some of the cities I enjoyed. Get out into the smaller cities and towns and away from Madrid and Barcelona.
Segovia Salamanca Valladolid Santiago de Compostela La Coruna Betanzos Gijon
Then that whole area over in the Pyrenees.

Talk to me about Barcelona and anything on the outskirts. That's where we will spend the majority of our time. I enjoy architecture, so any must see places?

Wife and I and another couple went there and loved it. Hunted Ibex first and then roamed around to different areas.

If you like to party, see beautiful beaches and tour some old history sights take a look at the island of Ibiza. It was one of my favorite ports to hit when I was in the Navy years ago. Beware though that I have heard it has become very liberal on certain things so if you are ultra conservative it may not be the place to go. You can fly in from Barcelona on a one hour flight.

I speak Spanish and Portuguese. It helps in the smaller towns. But they speak Catalan in the Barcelona Catalonia region. Couple of things for Barcelona: - La Sagrada Familia - Casa Batlló - Las Ramblas - La Boqueria Market (find the little restaurant that has razor clams and have some) - Make dinner reservations now, https://www.canmajo.es/ca/- Barcelona Maritime Museum

We lived outside of Sevilla for 3 years in the early 1960s. Malaga was one of our favorite places to go to. The big cities were avoided.

Been to Spain. Been to Portugal. Much prefer Portugal. Lisbon is a fun town. Did a driven red stag hunt in Portugal, had a blast.

A freind just spent two weeks there and got back Monday Oct 30th. He’s not from Texas but I’m sure he’d talk to you on the phone if you would like.
Never been to a camping world. I prefer Dick's to be honest.

In Barcelona I suggest trying to get reservations at El Asador de Aranda and indulge in some roasted suckling pig. Drinking a good Spanish wine and eating tapas with a view of the Mediterranean does not suck. Enjoy the trip
