This 10 point is moving through doe feeding territory in the early afternoon. I doubt I’d see that if he wasn’t lust driven. It’s ON…

Limestone. The neighbor is hot to get that buck. I’d shoot him (if I get a chance), the deer, not the neighbor, but the wife wants doe meat not buck meat. And truth be told, I want that weird horned buck. See this one, and count the points.

I had a buck doing the same last weekend in the panhandle. That's pre rut IMO.

I might have been a bit wrong about the rut. Same camera, this morning, shows the 10 point eating corn right next to 3 doe. I suppose that doesn’t reach the level of slobbering lust.

Chasing, pre rut. Tending, that's pretty close to go time. As mentioned, I saw only one buck chasing last weekend and a few lone yearlings that had been kicked out of the house by momma.

Bucks are working on bringing the does in---making noises, peeing on themselves, making scrapes, and chasing. Watch a billy goat when turned in with a bunch of nannies. It may take the billy a while to bring them in heat, but it will happen in due time.

Lampasas county in the 90s watched a nice buck with broken main beam breed one doe, they headed to the feeder which was close to the action scene ate for 3 or 4 minutes then left and were back at it less than 50 yards from the feeder. Sometimes you need a snack I guess. Sometimes big bucks are locked down with one doe and not running around ever where, they have what they want right there and when she stops playing, on to find the next. i believe they call that 'locked down"

In fact, not many deer at all outside yearling bucks. They've cut out their dates and are only concerned with the ladies. Everybody's off at the orgies.

Saw the same eight twice and a small four this weekend, both cruising for does in East Texas. Does did not appear ready just yet.

We saw several nice bucks chasing does mid morning in Llano county on opening day and two bucks fighting the next day. Hot scrapes freshly tended also. I'd say the rut is on
