My wife had the best views all weekend. Saw more deer and more bucks than i did all weekend. She caught some deer out in the field near the house, about 200 yards away. She wasnt paying too close attention but saw a couple of bucks and took some pics.
I went backwards thru the picture roll, from the zoomed buck pics she took to the first pics she took when she first walked outside and saw deer in the field.
I came to this pic and said to her, “I am shocked you didnt see one of those bucks breed that doe, that is a typical ‘breed me’ look a doe gives when she is ready”
Truth be told, this is almost a full week early for estrus at my place, normally hits around nov 11-16.
She replied to my comment “yeah those bucks were chasing but they didn't try to service her at all…and the doe didnt seem interested..”
And given the timing, i wasn’t shocked., until i scrolled to the first picture she took
Lol, that posture is classic “do me” posture for a doe. Quite different from taking a dump. The semi squat with tail up, deer dont semi squat when they poo, they just raise a tail and drop it.
If you havent seen deer do the deed done in person, this is the posture a doe will have when she signals to a buck its time.
If you see a doe doing this, be ready for a buck sighting…but chances are if you see this position the buck is real close to her anyway. Not uncommon for multiple bucks to be around too, and the dominant buck around her will tend her and prevent the others from breeding her.
I saw one humping today in my feeder pen. She wasn’t ready and got out of there before he got going well. Looked like someone shaking a dog off their leg
In Eastland county I have seen bucks breed standing does that were ready as early as October 15 but the first week of November is main time on the place in watching them for over 20 years. Biggest buck I have from there was shot on November 7th and saw 3 different does bred that day. well say different does because there were different bucks with them. Not all does come in at the same time, Some earlier and some later than the majority of the does.
Yup Buckeye that doe looks like she is ready.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch
I watched numerous (8-10) bucks trailing hard this past weekend, but none of the does were even close to receptive. I saw numerous does that were doing the poise you showed in first picture just taunting the bucks, then haul off as soon as a buck would get close. This was all NE from Fairfield (watched a nice young 10 mount a doe 5-6 times the previous weekend). Heading out to my place SW from Ozona here in a bit and will see what the activity is out that way over the next several days.
