We can’t hunt our lease in October so the general season is our first shot at bow hunting. I do believe I’m ready! I’ve passed on bucks for the last 10 years or so but there are always other targets of opportunity.

68” longbow
85lb draw at my length
Finger tension release
State of the art silencers
Lined moosehide quiver
Full length compressed white cedar shafts
Home grown broadheads

Hope to run it thru an animal within the next week or so. Excited to try this combo out.

Nice rig you got there! Genuine beaver fur L6/L10 spacing on the string, man you gotta experience it to believe it. It cancels the noise right out!

That’s length of string between the point of contact, divide by 6 for the bottom spacing divide by 10 for the top one. It works the very best for me!

Hope he gets a Hagerman slob as well. Would be a cool place to hunt!

Just make sure they have the spread to be legal. One was not and cost the guy quite a bit and didn't get to keep it. Been a while like 2011 or before but guy shot one that was less than 13 inside by a fraction that scored in the 170s IIRC.
He saw all those points and heavy rack from the side with it walking through and shot it not thinking it would not make the tale of the tape.

If a deer is in the 170’s and not 13” inside, you would have to be a real POS game warden to confiscate the deer and write him a ticket.

That should be granted a variance if it was under 13” by less than 1/2”

Good luck at the H. I'm just down the road from there and have never hunted it before. Need to start putting in for it.

Nice work. Those arrowheads look very uniform and consistent

Got to camp, unloaded and after a few practice shots, will go make a sit.

10 mph south east breeze, 78*. Only question is do I sit in the tripod or the ground blind?

Hoping to get either hog or, if a big buck comes along, a shot at him.

Good luck 85. blind or tripod if the wind is right for both, I like most comfortable. As I get older creature comforts are more important to m than they were in the past where I would often sit on a limb up in a tree. Effective but after a while not so comfortable.

Missed. Big boar about 20 min ago. Shot right over him at 17 yards.

My horizontal plane is perfect but I find myself consistently shooting over animals.

Ran down and got my arrow and am now back up in the tripod. No deer have come in yet which I suspect is because of the heavy hog presence at this feeder.

On the bright side, broadhead appears to be ok, will check the arrow later to make sure it’s still straight

I hate it when that happens.
Worse when it wounds them.

I’m glad it went over him instead of in the top of his back.

I don’t know what keeps happening; shot felt good, I wasn’t overly nervous.

Honestly when I saw the shot miss I was surprised, I was drilling them at 15 yards on the block target

I came across these pics from my game camera earlier. I haven’t checked it since June. I think I’m going to need more arrows! On the other hand, I’ll have my Rem 1100 with slugs and buckshot and my M1 Garand. I don’t shoot deer any more unless the landowner requires some does to be taken. Mostly I sit in a ground blind with a camera on a tripod but pigs are on the ticket!

I'm really wanting to kill a nice pig with my recurve. I was pumped that the pig came in. Maybe tomorrow morning will be better
