Does anyone here hunt in Sam Houston National Forest? If so can anyone tell me what are the rules on using electric bikes to get a hunter deeper into the forest by use of forest service roads?

I am looking for info on this all over the TPWD site and there is no info i can find.
My question is can an ebike be used on forest service roads to get you farther and then park it and walk into the area from the forest service road to hunt the area.

I've encountered kids on dirt bikes deep in the SHNF, not sure how legal they were though. I'd be wary about leaving an expensive bike unattended in the SHNF. If you email the USFS rangers, they're pretty good about getting back to you.

I would definantly lock it up or something. We all know locks only keep honest people honest. but i would definantly not leave it in plain view. i would push it off the road a little ways to try and hide it and assist with not tempting would be thieves. Us True hunters respect each others things. we can all just hope others have the same mindset.

That being said I may talk to a Game Warden next time i see 1 at SHNF.

Generally the US Forest Service considers an electric bicycle to be a motorized vehicle so they would only be allowed on roads/trails that allow motorized vehicles. They're regulated the same as automobiles/ATVs/motorcycles.

Riding one off road on Forest Service land in Texas is more than likely not legal. You can go to the Forest Service website and get a Motor Vehicle Use Map.
