This is all speculation, of course
People say the Jimbo deal is done after the season. I wonder if his contract allows him to get another job if bought out.
A guy I know seems to think Jimbo will get paid like the lottery. One time cash payment for a little less. Than 75 million over 5 years.
The going rate for a SEC coach is 9-10 million a year. A quality guy will cost them a fortune.

Not many elite coaches around. NIck, Dabo, Kirby maybe Jim Harbaugh maybe a couple more. With NIL you dont have to be. If you have big money you can get the players. Jimbo is just a bad head coach.

He could be reassigned to coach the punting team. Most expensive coach ever. Don’t like it, walk away. Stay and never coach again. Your career is trashed.

There are some places Jimbo could go land. Some programs are happy to go 8-4 and get a bowl. And they pay pretty good.
Could Jimbo coach at Mississippi State? I think he could. They pay 5 million a year.

I don't have a subscription to The Athletic, but there was a piece yesterday that reported that A&M boosters will come up with the funds to buy out Jimbo at the end of this year if there isn't significant improvement. I see them losing to Ole Miss & LSU, maybe SC. 7-5 at best.
So if they fire him and pay him $77mm, that doesn't mean their problems are solved. They are not the elite program that they think and could have a really hard time getting an elite coach to come there (even if they grossly overpay him). That's what got them in the Jimbo mess in the first place. They had to give him the most absurd contract ever and then they decided to make it even more absurd by extending him for even more money. Sounds just like the aggies doesn't it?
