Leupold Vari X2 3-9x50mm Matte Finish. I can't seem to find one anywhere close to buy. I don't do Ebay anymore.

What would be a very similar scope today since these aren't made anymore?

This would be their current version of that: https://www.leupold.com/vx-freedom-3-9x50-hunt-plex I have the 3-9x40 version in the VX-II as well as in the new VX-Freedom line myself.

The old Sightron SII 3-9x42s were a good scope, but no longer made. I happen to have several of them, and in pristine shape too. The Sightrons are known for good tracking and not requiring a full box of ammo to get them zeroed, and the glass is quite good. They're nice and light like a Leupold. In fact, I would say that they are pretty much everything a VX-2 wished it could be, and they're Japanese made. I haven't put them in the Classifieds yet because I'm trying to deal with things just a couple at a time, but I WILL get around to listing them.

The Weaver Super Slams (also Japanese made) are probably the most underrated SFP hunting scopes out there. If you can find one, snag it. It ain't easy, they haven't made them for a long time now. I have several and they are going NOwhere.

You MIGHT find one of these older Weavers or Sightrons available on ebay, but don't go in there holding your breath.

Sightron has newer models that I have never tried, but they seem nice. They've moved a lot of production out of Japan (either S. Korea or Philippines, not sure) but their QC is what matters and I have never heard a bad thing about their scopes.

Normally I would have kept this to myself, but I think I have all I need or want:

Weaver Super Slam 2-10x50mm

These are heavier scopes but they blow any of the Leupolds less than VX-5 out of the water. They track with good precision and the glass is outstanding. They're even still under warranty through Bushnell.

Whooops. You said in your first post you don't play ebay anymore. Didn't mean to disregard that, just kinda missed it.

^^^^^^

Agreed.

I have two of them I have owned for years and they are very good scopes. Will never sell them.
