My first hunt last year 4 coons came to the spinner right at shooting lite. I did not have my suppressor yet but had my AR. Those 4 are no longer with us. Never saw another one all season.

This and a bag of $.99 mini marshmallows from Wally World and you'll be snapping corn bandit paws for a while.

Another vote for Duke's D P traps! Cat food or marshmallows work well.

I've got 4 set (mix of Duke's and Zs) tonight. I'm worried the devils will tear the one wire that goes down through the varmint plates on the Outdoor Addiction feeder. Design flaw. 'Already had to fix and reinforce with conduit on another one. Trail cam shows them as regulars at this set. 'Learned on here that dry cat food works just as well as anything and is much easier to bait out of a jug. You can learn lots of things on here.

Hardly hear about them. We have two of those. Just this week had to fix that issue. Wire to motor rubbing against sharp edge of hole and cut through. Thought I had to drop plate and did but wouldn’t have had to. Not sure that others aren’t designed similar but not sure.

I texted his cell several months ago, wanting to buy one more, plus one more cage/skid bottom for a barrel. 'Had them actually deliver to my house the last time when they were headed west. 'Never heard squat. Another feeder manufacturer bites the dust? And that problem is caused by your basketball-armed 'coons, guaranteed.

I've trapped 51 on 40 acers since March, I have them in check for now. Let's see how long it takes before they start showing back up.

Another vote for Duke's D P traps! Cat food or marshmallows work well. I put the marshmallow below the trip mechanism first and a little cat food on top. SWAK Do not set these to close to your feeder, a trapped pissed off coon next to your feeder is not conducive for deer hanging around!

I just use corn...I have trapped coons for years. I used to use sardines until I found just corn works. I have illuminated hundreds through the years using only two traps. Each time I came to the blind I had two coons in them....boy does that make a difference! But you'll never get rid of all of them as they have millions in the corridors, waiting for their chance at your feeders.Lol Don't give up though...keep fighting the war !!!!! Lol Good Luck !!! You'll Need it !!

Anyone ever put Vaseline or Crisco on your feeder legs? I have some coons around that emptied one of my feeders in a week. The one with a cage on it, is just fine. I wasn't sure if the smell of those 2 items would spook the deer away? I've also seen people put PVC around the legs, but I am trying to avoid doing too much work on the feeder since the season has already started.

Yes, I have tried a lot of things.....I did use axial grease and it worked for about a month then had to put another coat on every once in a while. Then I put up some square wire fencing around the motor...it has to be much larger than the motor(maybe 18 inches wide and very deep) or else the coons will reach in and scrape out the corn. What I like most is those feeders 4 foot high with wire around it. I even tried to use plastic tubing ...3-4 inch with grease on that....still sooner or later they will be back. They make a shocking device that you can wire up and I think that might work. Hope ya have better luck than I had..Lol

I also only use corn. No mess and it's what they came to the feeder for anyway. Never had an issue filling my traps.

I've tried pretty much every method of neutralizing coons with my feeders. trapping is by far the most effective but the LO doesn't allow us to kill coons on our Ozona place, so no dukes for us.
Vasoline, motor oil, grease, etc. works well until the little critters try enough times to get it wiped down where they can shimmy up the legs, so have to repeat frequently to be effective.
so I have put up the coon cages on all feeders, fairly effective until they get enough of them doing gymnastics to pull the screws out or open up the cages enough to get an arm in.
4" PVC hung up high with wire or chains where the PVC can rotate on the legs seems to be very effective for the taller feeders.
When I am out there hunting for a few days, I set live traps around the base of the feeder and then haul them 10-15 miles away and release near a water source .... maybe the hunters there can dispose of them properly

I dispatched one today that I caught in Duke Dog Proof traps that I set yesterday. I use cheap canned cat food with a few kernels of corn for bait. He had a paw caught in each of the 2 traps on opposite corners under my feeder.
