TH and PL you are probably both correct. I was on the destroyer Charles H. Roan during the 6 days war sailing in circles with some other ships during that event. We were on modified battle stations all the time we were there. I was an FT and my job was to track all in coming aircraft and be ready to pull the trigger if we were fired on. My orders to use visual and radar to track and to pull the trigger and fire our 5in 38's guns if I saw gunfire or missile smoke from the plane that I was tracking. Had a junior grade lieutenant ask me what I was to do next. I told him I was going to bend over and kiss my a$$ goodbye as our tracking director was the first thing they would aim at on the ship. He got pale as he realized how real it was and not just games.
