I'd like to hear any of you that have a dove sighting report after this front rolled thru this morning. I have a different sunflower field in Bell County that I have high hopes for. The place usually has plenty of birds in October.

So far, in this area, I have not seen any northern birds on this front. But it is possible they could be behind it. The next couple will tell.

Got a nice northern wind, I’m sure some are migrating as we speak, how many I do not know. I’ll be hunting Haskell county this weekend. Last week I saw one group I would say were northern birds, they are usually in a big flock. Saw them coming, probably 30 of them hit my deeks. Only shot one, I wanted to get a good skillet shot on them and kill 15 with one shell. banana

Also you know them norther birds when you see a big flock come flying into a field from a tree line, and they are “streaming” in, in single file line. Man they get smart, the dumb ones get shot. Love dove hunting this time of year.

A friend reported that he saw lots of doves in a field in Bell County. They must be moving. Another dry front comes in Friday.

Dead here this morning, only saw 4 birds on my drive this morning. Second front hitting this morning, hopefully some on it. Fields are muddy though. I received more rain than anyone in this area. Most folks around here got 1/2-1", I got 1.5". Which I needed desperately.

All the fields I drive by north of Dallas went from pretty good numbers to everything vanished after that first front. Hoping this second one pushes new birds down.

Been slow in the mornings this week, but hunting at water in the evening has been insane. Big flocks of 20+ birds dropping in 30 minutes before sunset.

It has not been putting off any soot, and has had blue flame. I put that cast iron skillet in a case that made for case iron skillets and that size, with a white paper towel in there and no black marks on it. I have only used it like 3 times, I messed with that value once and thought it was set at half open, it might have bounded around in my truck and shifted.

Hey Guy, how about a little information on that cooker? Brand and how do you like it?

The cooker looks like a short legged fish fryer.

Bought it at Cabela’s with cabela points. I bought it because it had the highest BTU Cabela’s had at that store, but I sawed safty ring off, too small for some of my case iron…

And that valve is set at half, that cook pic I posted earlier is also with gas set at real low setting. I think if you turn it up, it turns blue, but I need to look at that valve setting again, when it is dark is best.
