She’s going to college in NYC and rides the subway a lot. She saw something the other day that concerned her and she told her mom that she carries a knife now. Well, it’s not much of a knife. It’s an old pocketknife. I’ll send her a real knife. Thinking about a Benchmade Griptilian AXIS like mine, but maybe something smaller and lighter might be better. It needs to be quick to deploy. Suggestions?

My best advice is to tell her to transfer to a school that is not located in a city long run by Democrats.

All practical means of self-defense are prohibited.

Criminals are running rampant, emboldened by soft targets and permissive prosecutors.

Any weapon she carries has to be in hand and immediately deployed. Consider a slungshot/"monkey paw".

Also, Krav Maga is a better choice than BJJ; you don't want to be grappling on the floor with multiple assailants.

This was my first thought. I wouldn't get on a NY subway with anything short of an M1 Carbine

tough situation...if it were my daughter/grandaughter, i'd second the moving her to a more friendly atmosphere. MMA training, taser, pepper spray, and a small fixed blade neck knife is what i would suggest for my daughter in that situation if I didn't have the option of moving her

I have no say in the matter of where she goes to college. She wanted that school because of a specific curriculum. I argued against NYC, but all they heard was blah blah blah.

Anyway, I got her a Benchmade Mini Bugout in white. Dang thing was expensive. I’ll give it to her at Christmas, along with advice to not let ANYONE know she has it. No doing her nails with it. Only use it under extreme danger. She already has a knife that she carries, but it’s junk.

I have this knife. It's pretty sweet, but the trigger is a little firm for a female to deploy the blade.

If ya gonna break the law carrying a knife,,,, carry a pistol. Knife is useless in a gun battle.
