Somes must like Shiner as it is the 5th largest selling craft beer brewery in America. For whatever reason, it sells really good with military personnel. Maybe there is a higher testerone level associated with lovers of Shiner Beer.

Shiner Bock used to be a seasonal until it wasn't. Now the "primary" seasonal is Octoberfest and it is pretty good. Shiner Blonde Light is just that - another light beer. The original Shiner was Premium. At some point, they relabled it as Shiner Blonde. Now it has reverted back to what it was supposed to be, Shiner Premium. Shiner Premium is pretty darn good if you like something other than a watered down light beer. In my eyes, Shiner Bock is the standard for all American made Bocks. Crwaford pales in comparison. Ziegenbock better than Crawford but lesser than Shiner. I think you have to go to Europe to find a better Bock, but they will all be higher in alcohol content.

Although 1909 was pretty darn good, I ain't much of a fan of those mareketing ploys designed to get you to taste those other seasonal beers produced by the Spoetzl Brewery, but maybe that's just me. Buying a twelve pack with four different beers, or whatever the # is, just isn't me.

Hint to all - obtain from a keg as it is always fresher.

I don't hate the Shiner offerings, but there are better breweries in our great state for sure. Pedernales, Petcolas, Karbach, Lakewood, 903, Tupps, Manhattan Project Beer Co., 512, etc. all come to mind when I think of Texas breweries/Texas beer I prefer to Shiner.

I bought a six pack of ipas to try them maybe 3 times.
1st couple sips - hey not bad.
Midway through 1st bottle- man I don’t know about this.
Force myself to open 2nd beverage then throw it away after a few drinks.

IPAs are for hipsters and such alike.

IPA's suck.

Get a shiner bock on tap or pour your bottle in a glass. You want to be able to smell it while you drink it. It's a delicious beer when you are only going to have one or two.

Shiner/Shiner Bock was 3.25 or 3.75 for a pitcher when I was at TAMU in the early 90's.

I thought it was overpriced then.

Some people like it, some don't.

I like some IPAs for 1 beer.

I just don’t care for Shiner Bock. Tried to, and failed. Buying Dos Equis these days.

As for tofu, it’s a food substitute, not an actual food.

I contacted Shiner regarding the return of 99. I was told it would not happen.

I would like to see the return of their Wicked Ram IPA as well.

Asked the same question about five years ago when we toured the brewery. Sad news for sure….that stuff was like drinking liquid butter….fantastic beer!

My sentiments exactly!

Ya’ll keep talking about it, while I’m drinking Dos Equis from an icy mug. Way better than arguing about beer.

Shiner Hefeweizen was my favorite, followed by Kosmos, Premium, and of course Bock. I’ve been drinking Shiner Bock since I was 15, so about 23 years and still tastes as good as it ever did.

Oooooohhhhh I'm gonna have to try that.

My only complaint about Shiner Bock is if I drink too many (12+) I'll have a hellova headache the next morning. Corona does the same thing to me.

Shiner Bock is definitely a favorite and stocked in my garage fridge as a staple. The Light Blonde is good too for a light beer. Some of their flavored beers have been iffy for me, but not terrible. Just don't drink flavored beer much. Love Shiner, but honestly starting to lean to Revolver as my favorite TX brewery. I just wish the bottled and sold everything they have at their site in Granbury,

I can see why anyone who loves Coors Light/Miller Lite/Bud Light would not like anything Shiner related, though.

I like to keep some regular Shiner in the fridge. It is never spectacular, but always welcome. Will look into that black as I am a Guinness fan. Some IPA's are very good -- Real Ale Brewing's Axis, for example -- but some get so bitter that they are undrinkable.
My lawn-mowing beer is Miller Lite, because it is "THE ONLY BEER THE DALLAS COWBOYS DRINK!" roflmao

Burn ban lifted. The Orale is pretty good. My favorite is Shiner Premium. Hard to find though. Octoberfest is good. I don’t like that yellow bottle at all or any of their fruit stuff.

Me too. My "STEP" Grandpa is still alive today, lives here in Aransas Pass. He is very much a Czech from Shiner. His family was one of "the families" that started the original Shiner Brewery and ran it for years. I like a cold Shiner or two once in a while. A cold Shiner Black is amazing with a steak meal, and a great cooking beer. If you drink White Claw you probly won't like Shiner.

Funny you would mention that…I would actually compare shiner to a ranch water, white claw drink…no body and lack of deep flavor all varieties.

Interesting. I don't agree, but we all have different taste buds. If you want deep flavor that you can actually taste in every drink, try Shiner Black. You won't go back.....
