If there is only one gun I could ever have based on what's out there right now it would be the SBEII. I wouldnt go with a Vinchi since they are unproven in the field. SBEIIs on the hand have been and you can ask 100 owners and I would be that almost all of them are very satisfied. Of all the owners I know I don't know of any complaints. The complaints I hear are normally from benelli haters.

For me I don't give a crap about the name brand of a gun..I only care about how it preforms in the field. I don't really care about cost either...if its a cheap gun or expensive...if it's below $2500 and I think I would use it for years and years and years then the cost doesnt matter because I will get my monies worth.

Zero problems with my Benelli Vinci. Had a M1 before the Vinci and both are great guns.

I really like my Beretta Xtrema2. It was significantly less than a SBE II without the kickoff. I wanted a gas gun since I already had a recoil "inertia" action gun.

Mine was $1080 last year at Cabela's with 28" barrel in Max4. If doing it again I would get black for $100 less.

Adding kickoff after market is $200, up front its $400

I'm not a huge fan of mine, had it for 6 years and it will only cycle 3inch highbrass, no #8 dove loads for this gun, kinda dissapointing considering the money spent. Might trade for a Winchester SX3 like mentioned in the second post from the top of this page

You should get it looked at, you might have a missing part or need something adjusted. I can shoot 7/8 oz light dove loads with no problem.

If you live in the Austin area I'd be willing to look at it.

My vote goes for the Benelli SBE. As long as you use at least 1 1/8 oz loads, there will be no jamming problems. The SBE in the Max 4 HD camo pattern is a beautiful gun!

Very handy.

I don't agree that you should make a buying decision based upon anything other than gun spec's out of a magazine. There are very few magazines that will say something negative about a shotgun that was sent to them free to test. Most are also spending dollars advertising in the same mag.

Obviously the Beretta's and Benelli's are great guns there are a ton of them out there.

I bought a Winchester SX3 last year with intentions of busting some ducks with it. It isn't a blued finish but more of an armor coating like powder coat or something. I felt like in a wet environment it might not rust as easy if I don't get it oiled quickly. I mention it only because it hasn't been mentioned up to this point.

100% for the money a Nova is hard to beat.

I was going to say this but thought I'd let it go. I have never, ever read a bad review of anything in a magazine. I think their "reviews" are just another way to advertise and make some money.

Saw an ad in the paper this week $250 for the 870 with $30 mail-in rebate...

It's hard to find a shotgun that has worse reviews that the 1187 super mag. The regular 1187s are ok but the super mags have terrible reports.

Older 870s are good guns but there have been way to many bad reports from new 870 owners to recommend one of those. In fact I'd recommend a used one but not a new one.

I would NOT buy a newer Remington shotgun period. I had a new 870 and the next year a new 11-87. Both of them broke on the first hunt out. The 11-87 had multiple problems and I never had a hunt were it didn't tear up. The 870 was fixed after the first problem, but I'll stick with my B guns; espeically Browning.

IMO, the old wingmaster 870s made in the 70s & 80s were pretty good guns. I have a 28ga 870 made in the 70s and the action on this gun is as smooth as silk. It has very nice wood too. I don't think the quality is the same on the 870s they're making today.

You might be onto something. I think the original Xtrema came out in 2001 and the X2 may have come out in 06.

x2. Love my Browning Gold Hunter. Plan on adding a Browning Maxus to the family line after it goes through some "real" field testing!! I held one at Bass Pro a week or so ago and I fell in love. It very light, fits great, and shoulders very nicely.

benelli's like clean burning dry,mud free, brand spanking new shells. any thing less than that and they can jam. oh yeah and they dont like hand loads! buy a beretta! i got 3 of them a 391a and an xtreama and my son shoots a 390 20ga. and they never fail! full of blow sand off the coast and covered in frozen mud in west texas and they keep on spitting steel! 870s are the sherman tank of shot guns and belgum made browning auto 5's are the panzer tank of shot guns! find what fits you and keep it clean and whatever it is will work fine!

i personaly bought a browning maxus for my first hunting shot gun. it has performed flawlessly but i have only had it out 3 times so far and only one was in rain. only time will tell.

it is a very nice gun. my first time to the skeet range with it i did alot better then i expected

i also have to add that this is my second shotgun and i have only ever shot a shotgun 4 times including the last three times i had the maxus out

just my .02 cents
