Nothing wrong with killing a 6 year old buck. They do most of their breeding at 3 and 4 years old. He may breed 1 doe as a 6 year old, and no guarantee the doe will carry to term.

One of the biggest myths in the whitetail hunting world is that passing 6 and 7 year old bucks will allow them to propagate further. It’s possible if conditions/nutrition is right he may make a jump as a 7 year old next year but it’s also possible he will backslide. Been many instances where a deer grows their largest racks at 4 or 5 and decline from there until they die of natural causes.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Do whatever it takes, as long as it's legal, to keep that lease. up

Yeah, "We need to let him breed" often means "Leave him and I'll shoot him when you're not here."

It’s one of the canons of the pasture Nazi
