If we are counting.... I have 53 years on the reloading clock. Still learning.
While I have other cartridges, between the 300 Ham'r and the 5.56 there is very little else I need inside of 300 yards. I like shooting everything but there is immense satisfaction from shooting the Ham'r. 300yds is all I need it for. In my lifetime of hunting my longest shot was 330yds on an elk. I guess Iām a FUD, but I always prided myself on getting close with a one shot kill.

I remember shooting a steel butt plate 30-30 in my youth and getting whacked pretty good if I got lazy and didn't snug it up to my shoulder. Of course having a slip on KICK-EEZ recoil pad doesn't hurt. I also like to ability to use pointy high BC bullets so I don't have to worry about where to aim at the distances I normally shoot.

If you plan on converting a Ruger Ranch Rifle, the Lancer 300 BO magazines work great. My Kimber does not use a separate removable mag. Since those are my only two bolt guns for the HAM'R that is the only advice I can offer.

Like how the bottom mushrooms š flying blender petals awesome hunting design Does it waste a lot of meat? I prefer bullets where you can "eat right up to the hole" rather than have to throw away a lot of bloodshot meat.

The Ham'r has been listed for a while but in my opinion their data is useless as their max load is more like a starting load. I would recommend using the Wilson Combat data to get the most out of this round.
