Thanks for the look back in time. I bought a lot of fishing tackle (and 8-track tapes :)) from Gibsons but never bought a firearm. My first gun was a Savage model 24 (.22lr/.410) bought at K-Mart for $49.00.

I still have a few of my dad's Country Gentleman magazines that he was given by a sweet little old maid in downtown San Antonio, that are circa ~1915 to 1930. I'll try and post some firearm ads outa those later on.

Still have my dad's 1100 as well. I have shot one trigger out of it and am working on the second. It looks as good as it did the day he bought it.

Don't know what kind of math they teach in Oklahoma, but 1973 was 50 years ago.

I was curious too, so I looked it up...minimum wage in 1973 was $1.60. That woulda bought a 1/4 pounder, fries, and a coke. About the same as what an hours worth of minimum wage will buy today.

Cool pics for sure!

The downside to some of this nostalgia is that y'all are overlooking the fact you have to have sideburns and wear photo-sensitive glasses with large rectangular lenses -- and polyester leisure suits to church.

Remember Gibsons in Athens had '98 Mausers in a barrel. Forget the price. Wish I had the $ to have bought them all.

Looking back at the OP's McDonald's picture... when I went to my first McDonald's, a hamburger was 15 cents, a cheeseburger was 18 cents, and fries were 10 cents. Quarter Pounders and Big Macs didn't exist back then,
