I have used Pentacryl in the past to keep wood from cracking as it dried. It works great, but that stuff is so expensive! Does anyone know of a cheaper alternative that does just as good?

If your dryer logs to be bandsawed at a later date I've just painted the ends with latex paint. Worked for me.

I have a gallon of Anchorseal that I painted some log ends with this summer, time will tell if it is any good. It is almost half of the cost of Pentacryl.
Amazon price per gallon $47 Anchorseal $88 Pentacryl

I've had good luck with Anchorseal.
