300yds is all I need it for. In my lifetime of hunting my longest shot was 330yds on an elk. I guess Iā€™m a FUD, but I always prided myself on getting close with a one shot kill.

To me the most amazing thing about the Ham'r is the lack of recoil. I remember shooting a steel butt plate 30-30 in my youth and getting whacked pretty good if I got lazy and didn't snug it up to my shoulder. Of course having a slip on KICK-EEZ recoil pad doesn't hurt. I also like to ability to use pointy high BC bullets so I don't have to worry about where to aim at the distances I normally shoot.

Those guys who have built or converted a bolt...what AICS patterned magazines work the best? I got my reamer a week or so ago and go gauge came Friday so getting close to spinning this thing up.

If you plan on converting a Ruger Ranch Rifle, the Lancer 300 BO magazines work great. My Kimber does not use a separate removable mag. Since those are my only two bolt guns for the HAM'R that is the only advice I can offer.

Thanks Gc...not a Ruger, looking like it's going to be a Zermatt TL3 in a KRG Bravo chassis.

Does it waste a lot of meat? I prefer bullets where you can "eat right up to the hole" rather than have to throw away a lot of bloodshot meat.

I'm in South Africa hunting and have mostly been using one of our new NULA M20 bolt guns in .358 Win. shooting a 200gr Controlled Chaos, but I have got to use the HAM'R on these 4 Warthogs. I'm shooting the new 112gr Tipped Xtreme Chaos at 2600fps MV. One was DRT, two ran 5yds or so and one ran 30yds..

I have recently been visiting the Hodgdon site alot for load data and waiting for the weather to cool down. guess what I caliber is now being listed? 300 ham'r.
this may be the impetus for me to start loading for this caliber too.

The Ham'r has been listed for a while but in my opinion their data is useless as their max load is more like a starting load. I would recommend using the Wilson Combat data to get the most out of this round.
