I am right at 2 gallons per 1000 ft3 and it did not burn last year

I cut it down to one every 3 - 4 weeks when it is really hot and dry. I have not put any down since the water restrictions took place.

I avoid granular because by back is bad and I have not bought a pull-behind spreader yet. Need to bread down and do that...it will be cheaper in the long run.

Yeah you're good at a 2 gallon carrier. I'm a little surprised that yours is going dormant even with minimal water. Typically well fertilized bermuda will hang on pretty well even if you can only do 1/4" at a time and your fertilizer is on point. I have 2 here I'm working with that have no irrigation. One is doing the best he can with a sprinkler and hose and the other nothing and both looking pretty good. What's your soil structure like? We are clay so when you can get some water in it, it tends to hold some moisture for a but. If you're more sandy/rocky that would make sense. What T20 product are you using and what other product? Do you ever add any fungicides or insecticides to your spray apps?

You hit on my issue. Soil...or lack thereof .

What I know know (we were not around for landscaping work) is that 75% of my front yard and 25% my back yard had some kind of course white/yellowish sand used to level before sod went down. Anywhere from 3"-4" to almost a foot of the stuff.

So there is almost nothing to hold moisture under the 1" of soil that came on the sod. There are also no nutrients down there...part of the reason I fertilize lightly, but often.

Put iron in with the fert late spring.
Was alternating spray fungus with Scotts DiseaseX...quit when it turned into a desert.
Killed bugs and grubs early with granular stuff, then had a flea killings fit In June

I threw down .35 lb. N (AS) last month but kicked it back up to .5 lbs. of N yesterday. Really wanted to see how my Tiff would respond to less N last month after giving it .6 lbs. in June. With less N and high temps over 100 degrees, I went from mowing every 3-4 days to just once per week the past 2 weeks. It started losing its color the past 10 days also. Hopefully we will get some relief from the heat when September gets here. Preemergent time is just around the corner. Come on Fall.

You're good at spraying so I would ditch any granular fungicides. Some of the liquids can have some sticker shock but per app cost is much cheaper. I think you need to work in a granular fert at least a couple times a year, but I like bypassing the soil too and get it. I would like to have some NPK in the soil for the roots. per say. You for sure need a soil test around late February/early March.

Got bored yesterday afternoon. Lawn was too thicc and getting a little tall for my liking so I decided to take it down. I'll finish it up tonight. We'll see how it looks in 10-14 days.

Nothing wrong with being bored. I`m not to that level yet though. I did try to find some Elemental Sulphur last week for my last application with no success. The person at TSC said there were 2 stores that had 1 bag each, but they were both 2 hours away and it`s listed as UNAVAILABLE in their system. I may try Site One the next time I'm go to Ft. Worth.

I'm not that level. It's actually pretty sloped it's just hard to see in the pic. On the first pic where you see the deeper scalp mark. Right there and the line to the left of it is a hump and then it slopes down from there. I really need to grade that hump down some. It always the two toughest rows to mow and will tend to scalp some in summer when its super thick.

Zero irrigating with installed sprinkler systems or stationary hose end sprinklers. Only hand held hoses for watering and that is limited to 2 hours per day.
The SUD that formerly claimed they do not have the tech to get email bills to people, is suddenly ready to implement a policy to monitor water bills closely and fine you if you exceed winter time water usage.

And we pay about $2200/year in SUD taxes to have the honor of paying high prices for water than we can no longer use.

It's pre emergent season boys. Get your lives together and get it out. I like Prodiamine. Looks like Lowes dropped the Lesco line. Best deal I can find is Lebanon from Lowes or HD. Rate would be 3lbs per 1000sq feet. That will cover your grassy weeds. Put down Gallery for broadleaf weed control. It can be found at most local nurseries.

Uhhhhhh...do I still put down pre emergent if my Bermuda grass has gone dormant?

Yes. it won't prevent your grass from "waking up" or coming out of dormancy. It works by not allowing new seeds to set root. Also why apply it mid winter during dormancy. I like Feb 15th(ish) for my spring app. There are other pre emergents but I like Prodiamine for its really long soil residual. Nothing is 100% proof preventing weeds, there are always some that will break the barrier, but for grassy weeds Prod has performed the best for me. All Pre's need to be watered in really well with a 1/2" of irrigation or rain.

12 days ago and today. Back to normal in no time. Need to smooth out the humps in the center of the lawn. Not bad with mostly105+ heat the past 12 days.

That bounced back pretty good Derek. Just imagine how that would look with an inch of rain and temperatures down 15 degrees. I`m sure hoping that will happen in the next 2-3 weeks.

Do we need to wait until the temps drop below 110 degrees to put this down or just spray and pray?

Spray and water in. You're good to go. I did mine last week.

I`ve only gotten 1.01 inches of rain in the past 12 weeks. Late yesterday afternoon I finally got 2 small showers that totaled .4". I wish I would have had my monthly application a N down. The grass really responds to the rainwater compared to well water. Wish I would have gotten more, but thankful for what I got.
