I sold my 4 runner to buy the new model that was supposed to come out last year, and apparently it won't be released till 2025......so I was think about just getting the new Toyota land cruiser Prado when it comes out next year..... that was until I saw the all new Lexus GX, it's a damn good looking SUV. The wife already said yes. I think it's the best looking SUV that is off road capable.

Not bad. I’m curious about the Land Cruiser. Had one before and loved it. Couldn’t believe they weren’t still making them.

I would need to see it in person, from the back it looks a little boxy on Lexus Build site.

Looks like a first cousin of the 4Runner. Will have more bells and whistles than the 4Runner. I think it’s a suitable replacement. I like it.

They have been making them, just not selling them here for some reason. It should look like the GX just have a different grill.

I think that's why I like it. It's kind of retro.

why they put the offroad technology in it and then killed any approach angle is beyond me.

For those hard core rock parking lots, curbs at the mall, and the occasional snowy road. Plus men in high heels needs it lower so they can get in.

No offense S A Hunter, that was directly shot at Judd.

I’d rather have the Sequoia TRD PRO if I was looking for an off-road capable full-size SUV

A buddy of mine that loves to buy fully capable off-road vehicles that never see dirt, ordered one for his wife about a month ago in Inferno Red.

No offense but you're high...or maybe it's the only "off road capable" choice 'cause that thing looks like Robo Cop and Optimus Prime had a cartoon baby.

Hope you have white-framed Oakleys ready.

Sadly no.....those V8s are bullet proof. My wife has one in her coupe.

They went to the twin turbo V6 that gets one more MPG then the V8..... although the V6 has more HP and torque.

Not the same in my opinion. Quality and customer service that lexus provides is top notch for me. We hang on to our cars for a long time, and nothing compares to Toyota/Lexus in durability.

Brother in Law had it delivered in the front drive as a Christmas Present for Her a couple years back. If you have $100,000 laying around, surprise Her.

Off-road capable is laughable. The most off road that thing will see by 99% of its drivers is going from a fully paved road to a gravel/dirt road. The "Overtrail" one you refer to as off-road is $80k+. Nobody spending that much money on a city SUV wants it beat up going off-road.

Not throwing stones, but I just cant see buying something that nice for "off road".
I prefer to have a capable beater and then a nice vehicle for work/customer trips.
This works out well during hunting season when my chesapeake makes sure everything is hair and mud covered on interior.

BP,
FWIW, the new tundra/sequoia turbo v6's aren't getting great reviews. The hybrid sequoia has less cargo space because they had to make room for the battery.

This right here. My old bronco was 12 shades of primer but would go anywhere.

Just cuz you can't walk in high heels BigPig doesn't mean the rest of us can't...such a jealous person rolleyes

I like my GX and I like this one. Mine's a 16 and has 60k miles on it and I've owned it almost 2 years...I'll likely get tired of driving it and move to something else at some point in the next year. Just haven't seen anything that I'm willing to pay to get. I'd like a Bronco but they are stupid money for what they are and I've heard road noise complaints. Road noise, Dodge motors and the stupid wave will likely keep me out of another Jeep. That just about leaves a 4Runner TRD Pro or another GX confused2

Maybe for just farting around town, but I use my truck bed almost weekly.

When we were looking at cars for the wife, well before Covid, the local Lexus dealer had a suburban-size Lexus in the show room. They'd had it lifted a little bit. At that time, the salesman kid said the dealership owner ordered a few every year. Now that thing was nice. 'Can't remember the model name. The wife said I should get it, but I'm just not the country club style duck/quail/etc. hunter.

Wife drives an Expedition. It’s very handy for parking in town, compared to my long bed cc f350.

Me thinks you both do…

Back on topic…I couldn’t have one for an only vehicle and hunt…or expect to rent a truck periodically. I’ve got an old Super Duty v10 that I use when I need to tow something or pick something up. Pretty good combination, doubt I could afford to feed that v10 if I had to drive it daily.

Rover Defender might be another option??? I’ve always heard they aren’t dependable and cheaply built but they do look interesting.

Those Lexus 460 LRD’s are great off road.

This looks to be a good one was well.

Keep in mind a large segment of the population does use these vehicle as intended. They just don’t live here in Texas.

I'm still driving my 1997 Land Cruiser (with 342K miles on it) and my Wife....her 1999 Lexus LX470. Said She is still perfectly happy with it and doesn't really want anything else.

Pricing for the Toyota LC and the Lexus GX will probably be all over the place. There will be a big market demand for both. I can only imagine what the dealership market adjustment will be!!!

Granted, I’m about 1800 miles south of Dallas, but this LC has been catching my eye the past few months around town..

My sons 03 LX has been a fantastic vehicle. We couldn't find a 4runner v8 4wd he could afford.

Hope you have white-framed Oakleys ready.

I typically agree with you

Not here, the GX460 may be the best all around and hunting vehicle there is……

And no, I need a longbed truck on the weekends, so, I don’t have one.

I didn't say it was incapable, I said it's butt ugly.

The new one has a turbo V6....... I don't know how well it will hold up. The V8 and transmission setup in the old ones are practically bullet proof. It's a little bit of a crap shoot with the 2024.

Had to replace the valley plate gasket on our V8, which seems to be fairly common. Only repair in 12 years.

You're doing great if that's your only repair. Not many domestic offerings can say the same.

Stopped into the Lexus dealership today. New GX won't be hitting the dealerships until ~ end of May according to Sales Manager I spoke to. They are about 6 months behind schedule.

Practical to own but you don't want to get caught driving one.

We took one on a road trip and I loved it, tried to convince the wife to buy one, but it was a hard NO...

At least they changed the cow catcher front end. I've wanted to buy a GX for quite a while but hated the front grill.

We visited a Lexus dealer to inquire about the 2024 GX. We were told they could probably get one for us next January.

Yep, that seems like the timeline. I want a white with saddle tan interior luxury plus...... I dont know how long it will take for my number to come up.... you can't order, you just have to wait for the dealer to get allotted and select from what they have or pass....

Got a text today that they would have a silver one in two months if we were interested, but we passed. We will wait how ever long it takes to get a white pearl one.

I've seen a few (not pearl white) in the wild. GX looks pretty good.

Well hell, the engine that is going into the GX is having problems with main seals......not good. I'm starting to get cold feet. I might jump to the 2025 4runner, and the wife can get the GX in a couple of years when they get things ironed out.

We are on the list and waiting for the phone call of what came in.....hopefully in 8-12 months we'll start getting those phone calls. S.A., you got any links on this? We have nothing but time on our sides I guess.

If somebody hit my Jeep today I think I would get a 2024 4Runner after driving my son's over the weekend. It is supposedly the last V6 before they experiment with a new little motor. Maybe they will call it the "Little Engine that Could."

Well, reading the release, a little more comforting that 2024 years are not included, nor GX. They have the V35A FTS, but hopefully the fix was already done if somehow we get the call for a 24, but our guy said expect a 2025.

There is a 24 that was included....maybe the LX? I would just hate to drop all that coin, and the damn thing be in the shop all the time.

Nevermind it stopped at 23..... maybe not 24s yet?

I had a 2020 and it was under powered. But that V6 will likely last forever.

Do they still put V6 motors in the new 4Runners or did they go to the 4-cyclinger turbo version?

Thos year is the last year for the 4runner 6 cylinder.

Lexus put a 30 day hold on the GX, then bumped it to a 56 day hold...... for a sunroof drain. The hold went hand and hand with the Tundra hold for engine problems. I've got to wonder if the hold for the GX is really for the drain and not the engine that it shares with the Tundra....

SA, I expect not. they got a boatload of motors with QC problems. I remember when Honda came out with first car - no heater so they chopped up an actual boatload of them.

Gonna head to toyota and probably get on the list for a 2025 4runner, the wife can get a GX if she wants it when they get things figured out. I don't know if I want to drop 85k on a car with a questionable engine...... resale value will drop too.

I was offered one yesterday, but didn't have the interior we wanted. The dealership finds them a home before they are built, and it takes a month and a half to get here. Maybe we'll get one by the fall.

The neighbor has a 2021 Toyota land cruiser. It has a classic look with the bronze wheels. I want to do the same with the wife's car when she gets it. It will come with 22 inch wheels with very little rubber. I know how the wife drives, and can tell you it won't be long before she cracks, or blows out those tires on a curb....I want more tire, and less wheel. What do yall think about this look.

If you like it, then do it. I personally don't like the bronze on white...looks much better on a black vehicle to me...white needs black wheels.

The stock 18s don't look half bad with a good tire.
