I don’t what I’d rather pay for, a civilian submarine trip to the Titanic or a civilian space flight to who knows where.
Both seem extremely risky, but worth the experience. The submarine scares me more so I’d probably chose that one Space craft mishap would be a much quicker death. The idea of death or how long it takes isn’t what bothers me, the idea of being a vegetable or quadriplegic the rest of my life and burden on others is what bothers me. https://www.livescience.com/human-body-no-spacesuit

Both seem extremely risky, but worth the experience. The submarine scares me more so I’d probably chose that one I'd happily do the space flight. Humanity has well over half a century of experience in building spaceworthy craft, and if there's a breach, there's some chance to seal it and recover. Spring a leak at 12,000 feet down and you get crushed like a styrofoam coffee cup. that's what Sally Ride thought also. Sally Ride died from pancreatic cancer. Christa Mcauliffe died in the Challenger explosion.

6000 lbs. of pressure per square inch is what the expert reported.
Looks very bad.
I've had a submariner tell me about a pinhole or tiny sized leak in sea trials. Was a really serious issue. They had to emergency surface. He described it like a water jet used to cut metal (sort of like one of those laser cutting machines). We have a water jet at work. Interesting to watch it cut through stainless. It didn't even need to implode or develop a a big hole.
To be determined

How smart do you have to be to actually pay to go to sea in something that is designed to sink?

How smart do you have to be to actually pay to go to sea in something that is designed to sink? Same folks that jump out of perfectly good airplanes... Sounds like they are hearing some sounds, seems to have given a little hope to finding it. IF the government gets involved and it's making any noise at all, they will find it...the question is will they find it in time?

Never for me on a tourist sub.
I had a very close call at 90'. A few circumstances during the dive caused me to use a lot more air than everyone else (the major one being being bit on the back of the leg and the knee cap by a trigger fish that wouldn't let go. Yes, you can kinda scream underwater and blow out a lot of air) and at safety check I had less than 5 minutes left, everyone else about 15. I assume the dive master felt we were too deep to surface rapidly. I had never done it before, but on hand signals from the dive master I had to remove my mouth piece at 90', and accept his auxiliary to breath off of for the balance of the dive. I was a new diver, very inexperienced and this was my 4th dive on that trip and final of my life.
I feel for these people. I hope they're rescued. They were seeking adventure and took what they thought were calculated risks. If they didn't make it I hope they never knew what hit them. I can't imagine the feeling of being in that vessel and knowing what was going on.
I don't want to live life on the bench, but I am going to mitigate my risks.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I heard a few hours ago that sonar detected tapping sounds. That would be promising.

I would suspect even if they found it intact right now, it would take awhile to raise it 13000 feet.

I heard a few hours ago that sonar detected tapping sounds. That would be promising. They heard that last night. Nothing new today I do not think. The missing Malaysia airlines flight 370, they heard a lot of noises too. They better find it by tomorrow morning or they will run out of oxygen. If they are still alive, it must be the worse experience ever them cramped in the sub (5 people in the sub, size of a mini van), probably some freaking out, probably throwing up, pissing and crapping all over themselves...Terrible...

I would suspect even if they found it intact right now, it would take awhile to raise it 13000 feet. That would require getting a submersible on station (only a few in the world that can work at that depth) with a 4 hour descent - LOCATING the missing sub once they're on bottom - attaching something/freeing the missing sub - then a 4 hour ascent. My take - they know where it's at. There isn't a way to recover it. So it's easier to tell the masses they don't know vs we're letting these people suffocate to death.
