Playinig Trivial Pursuit with my new, stuffy, arrogant, over the top religious MIL about 40 years ago. She was smart, I never beat her until one game came down to this final challenge question for me to win: "What is the name of the legendary madam featured in Penthouse forum/letters? Without hesitation I looked that battle ax square in the eye,"Xavier Hollander". She was never going to like me anyway.

I've only seen them in a can, even in England.

Thankfully I didn't mistype and write "the can".

I didn't realize it was that easy! While you've got the lathe out, I've been looking for a large wooden serving bowl. When you drop it off, we've got a zip line that has never been put up. Since you have experience, you can put that up too. Thanks!

Unclebubba, I’ll pass on the zip line. Forget I mentioned it. As for spatulas, i have 4 partially done and will do 3 or 4 more. As for a serving bowl, that isn’t hard to do, but there’d need to be a glue -up the day before turning. If you really do want one, PM me and we can discuss details. Max bowl diameter would be about 11 inches due to lathe limitations.

Michiganders are gone. Took them to the airport this morning early. Gearing up now for the Brits. Gonna load up some 40 gr Nosler BTs to have if we run out of the Herter’s ammo I bought. Thank goodness they aren’t staying overnight. The wife and I have had enough of overnight guests by now. She’s tired of cooking and I’m tired of being nice. After the Monday/Tuesday guests leave, I’m locking the front gate and turning off all phones.

Wife just got back from the guest house. The Michigander woman is an OCD neat freak. She deep cleaned the house while they were here, and she totally rearranged the kitchen. Clean is good, and the wife put the kitchen back the way it was. Oh, and the Michigander woman mentioned to my wife that the oven was dirty, suggesting that the wife clean it. Wow!

That’s the way I’d look at it.

Thought seriously about that yesterday. Daughter and SIL and brand new grand baby are here to visit. Told them I'd be grilling steaks and breaking out the good vino for dinner last night. Next thing I know two more sets of grandparents and great grand parents are invited over. hammer Ending up cooking steaks (our custom Kobe beef) for 11 people and they had no problem doing a deep dive on my wine collection. Never knew being a grandpa could be so expensive....

Stuff like this happens to us. I know why, and it makes me feel good. We're not A-holes and neither are they. I suspect you and your wife are good people, so those around you appreciate and would likely do the same. It's a compliment.

That’s exactly what happened (or is happening) here. It was gonna be the daughter and SIL and the 4 Brits. Then everybody else piled on. The daughter says she’ll bring all the food, but it’s likely that nobody will bring beer or wine. Here I am grumping again. Remain calm. All is good.

We won’t be serving Kobe beef, but I guess I’ll go get some beer.
