Your generosity is all on you. It's not a bad trait as long as it's at your will and not something you're pressured or guilted into. Anytime someone asks to, or my wife tells me, "random husband of one of my friends wants to shoot your guns........" I'm glad to do it, and I tell them the specific ammo they need to bring and where they can get it I typically don't hear back.

I will take pictures. It would be fun to have JG here to visit. He is the real deal, though he might not have a goat roper belt buckle.

Truth is that I like teaching folks to shoot, and the fact they are Brits makes it more important that they see that it can be safe and fun, and then take that knowledge home with them.

Had a similar situation a few years ago, threw a big pasture party at my place. Big cookout, and my son in law's parents were there from Chicago. Everything was good until we started shooting and they left. I was told later they are very anti gun and they left because we started shooting. Good to know! They haven't been back. I'm thinking you slip in some tannerite and tell them you don't know what is going on.

This isn't drama; 'dude is just having a party. Now, if one of the 20-something girls was a bi-polar nymphomaniac and started coming on to "Grandpa", and he was "just trying to be polite"...see, THAT'D be drama.

No, this really isn’t drama, and it’ll be good to meet the Brits. They’ve gone to great lengths to host and entertain the SIL when he visited England, so this is a chance to reward them a bit. Would have been nice to get a bit more of a warning, and the timing is far from perfect.

The Brits’ biggest request was to do some shooting, so that won’t be a problem. The only thing we don’t have for the occasion is a handsome young cowboy type fellow for the girls to admire. I just don’t know one, but if you qualify as under 30, ruggedly handsome, with the full cowboy attire, and are a competent pistol shot, come join us. And, if you want to bring your horse, if you have one, do so. That would only add to the event.

As you can gather, I’m a bit more relaxed about this than I was.

Just for filler type info, the SiL’s Mom was a war bride. The Dad was in the Air Force. That’s where the Brits fit into this. They are relatives of the SIL.

My only concern is the Brit's returning to England and their representaton of Texas will be focused on events on County Road 603.

Ya know, if we just had some of Hudbone’s jerky, that would represent Texas well. He makes great jerky.

We’ve already been warned that the Brits can’t handle spicy food. Neither can the SIL. The wife cooked up some real spicy enchiladas a few years ago, and the SIL was down for 2 days. Wimp…

Maybe the SIL is related to Austin Powers. Just hope the girls aren’t.

Cook up some chili with beans and haves some cowboy cookies for desert.

Just an FYI on the Brits mentality on guns. I had a BIL from England and he had never held a gun and wanted to see/hold one. The first thing he did was point it at me and said "stick em up". Of course the gun was unloaded, but all they know about guns is the Westerns they see on TV.

You might want to give them a safety talk first and let them hold a pass around an unloaded gun first to get that first thrill behind them. They weren't raised with guns in the house like most of us.

603, ever heard the saying "Texas friendly spoken here"? Be nice to them, enjoy being the range officer, and smoke a couple briskets. Clearly you have nothing better to do. Most of all, be a Texas gentleman and make your daughter proud. It aint about you.
