Certainly the bear was plenty impressed! Good shooting. Obviously a very good use of that bullet.

"Group think" is not thinking. It is the lack of independent thought. It is a cancer of the mind.

Thanks guys. Now if we can find the bigger boar. 2x the size (weight) of this one. After testing the Hamr on this "smaller" one I don't see why it wouldn't work about the same on a bigger boar with the same shot placement.

Awesome terminal performance pics Mr. Wilson! Can you share any results about the accuracy of each load?

All loads will typically shoot 1.5" or better in all my bbls. Once you find the load a specific bbl likes they will normally shoot sub 1". The single most accurate bullet in my guns is the 110gr Lehigh CC2 which normally shoots 5/8"-1" in all my guns.

I have been avoiding this caliber, and this thread by extension. But the more i thought about it, I think i really want a short AR that's reasonable for hunting.

So I've watched some of the Wilson Combat videos for the 300 hamr. While still undecided, i have most of the info i need to make a decision. If i do this, then i'm fairly certain I am going to build me a dedicated complete upper for one of my existing lowers. Probably getting the 1-15 twist ranger since it is "THIS IS BILL WILSON'S FAVORITE HAM'R BARREL" according to their website.
I will be buying some brass and about 100rds of loaded ammo. The 130gr Speer or 125 Sierra loads look like the most versatile for hunting.

However, I got some questions. Sorry if these have been asked before. This is a freaking LONG thread.

1. Is there any advantage to getting an adjustable gas block? FYI, i like KISS philosophy so I prefer a normal if it functions fully. In particular function fully when paired with a fully milspec lower (as in no fancy lightweight buffers or springs) and the standard milspec BCG.

2. Can I suppress this? I'm not looking for assassin quiet, just enough to not wear hearing protection. I'd hunt with my 308 suppressed without ear protection.

3. Anyone have one of these in a Ruger American?

The 130gr Speer HHC is a great choice since it's one of the most proven bullets for the caliber. I'd skip the Sierra 125gr PH though and look at the Speer 135gr HAM'R Bonded for hunting. If you plan to hunt bigger game than deer/hogs I'd go with the 150gr HAM'R Bonded or the 150gr Speer BTSP.

Most of my guns don't have an adj block and I run suppressor on all of them I hunt with. Sometimes they are a little overgassed and eject at 2 o'clock but it's never caused a malfunction.

The 300 HAM'R is an awesome host for suppressors. With one of our Quell or a Dead Air Nomad it sounds much like a un suppressed .22 Mag shot from a comparable bbl length.

Several guys on this forum have the converted Rugers and we've sold a lot of conversion kits. It makes a great "truck" gun, especially if you like in a Commie ran Blue state.

Wow, many thanks for the quick and thorough responses. I'm pretty sure I am going to go the AR route. Luckily i hesitated, you're running a sale on some of the items now.

First post here on THF. After working my way through all 132 pages, today I ordered a WC Ultralight Ranger with a 1-15 twist in the Kodiak White Camo. Now for the 3-4 month wait for my rifle to arrive. Will make good use of my time by gathering reloading components and the necessary gear.

Is the 110 gr CC2 that you are referring to the current 110 gr CC you offer (05308110CUSP) on the website, or something new that is coming?

We're still shipping bullets/ammo with the original 110gr CC now, once we run out the 05-308-110-CUSP2 will be available.

lots of discussion about bullet types and weight. ive been shooting 125gr tnt almost exclusively since they were $75 per 500. that was probably before covid. pretty sure ive gone thru many many thousands. im down to less than a couple hundred now. when theyre gone ill switch to some old stock... 110s, 125s and some 130 something or other. i like the 110s for the speed but the 125 tnt are just so dang cheap. ill probably go back to them when its time to order again. here are some recent kills. i think any bullet except an fmj would have killed just as well. only problem, as you can see in the vid, is i had trouble shooting thru tall wheat. not sure anything would have done better though.

note: the footage with the red crosshair is with a 223

Djones, what a nice addition. Dirt clods are never safe even if they hide behind wheat when you are around roflmao

Here is a 314 lb boar I put down this weekend with the 125 TNT. I stalked him on my pig barrel. Went for the double tap but barely whiffed the second shot over the top of his neck. Didn't matter, he went down hard from the first one. I paid the insurance on him anyways with a spine shot once he was down. Bullets are cheap and big old boars like that can be unpredictable. No good reason not to spend another fiddy cents.

In the last 30 days that barrel has produced 3 nice boars. A 216, a 222, and this 314.

Here is video.

Thanks Bill and DJ!

Using the djones approved 125 TNT, IDK how the play could ever have been called into question? confused2 That thing is magic, is it not?

Looks like the HAM'R may get a workout tonight. We thought we were out of the woods on peanut planting damage, we have the plants pushing up with seed leaves out, should have been good to go. We let down our guard though and took a serious hit on two fields the last couple days. Time to go unleash some hate now.

Called today and tried to buy some of the bullets. They weren't familiar with 05308110CUSP2 part number. A lady indicated she would look into it and call me back, but must not have figured it out, since I never heard back.

Technical question for you Mr. Wilson/others…

I’m in the process of building and selecting a few final parts for an ultralight hunter type rifle.
I have a WC billet set I will be building this on. standard mil spec would shave off a few oz, but I had this set on hand. I ordered the 16” ultralight profile, and need some advice about BCGs. I will be using a superlative arms AGB, and JP polished buffer spring, carbine weight buffer. Smoke composites 10.1” stock, still undecided on rail. What is your opinion on function/reliability of using a low mass bcg? While I’m seeking as light as possible, I’d like to keep the reliability as well. Central/S TX. Climate, will be shooting suppressed 20% of the time. Do you have any suggestions on keeping this build as light as possible and reliable as well? Is there anything I would be overlooking? Thanks
